Stay At School Nepal (SSN) is a registered NGO registered with the Kathmandu DAO (regd. no 235), registered with Internal Revenue Department ( PAN no. 607003741), and affiliated to SWC (46536). SSN works in the education sector in the Solukhumbu district through Hostel Project and Fellowship Program. Creating brighter futures through better education for the children of public school is the main mission of SSN.

Stay At School Nepal (SSN)

Stay At School Nepal (SSN) was established in 2017 as an NGO with education as its core thematic area. Our mission is to create brighter futures through better education for the children of remote public schools. We are implementing 2 projects / programs to achieve our mission:

1. Hostel Project

Under Hostel Project, SSN helps to build, operate and manage hostel facilities in public schools, creating educational hubs for communities. With our help, students get better environment for study and improve their academic performance. Currently, SSN is supporting 5 public schools in the Solukhumbu district. About 48 students from each school are benefitting annually from the Hostel Project.

2. Fellowship Program

SSN is implementing a 5-year Fellowship Program since 2023. It provides scholarship and mentoring support to the students of partner schools. Scholarship support includes quarterly cash payment which helps to cover study and living expenses of students. Whereas mentoring support includes sessions on important life skills. Currently, we are supporting about 100 Fellows from our 5 partner schools under the Fellowship Program.

3. Second Home Program (in pipeline)

To support Salleri, Solukhumbu based Fellows and others, we are currently planning a new 5-year Program called Second Home Program (Doshro Ghar). Proposed program will facilitate better learning among our Fellows with the provision of learning conducive facilities/services like tuition class, counselling, subsidized meal, IT, laundry/shower, social events etc. It will be a kind of learning center where our Fellows and others can effectively utilize their free time for improving their academic performance.

Job Description:

SSN is seeking a qualified, experienced, skilled, and competent full-time candidate for the position of Program Officer to manage Second Home Program. Creative, dynamic, proactive, result oriented, and enthusiastic professional committed for the holistic development in children's life makes best fit for the position. The position involves managing the Second Home Program as well as basic admin and finance related works.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake research, networking activities, and awareness program with schools, stakeholders, community and the local government;
  • Enroll members in the Second Home Program based on the standard criteria and develop database and profile of members;
  • Assess, plan and organize training sessions, tuition class, counselling, social events, etc.;
  • Oversee overall operation of the Second Home Program and its assets under the guidance of the Executive Director;
  • Coordinate with Sr. Fellowship Program Officer and partner schools for disseminating information related to the Fellowship Program and selecting Fellows;
  • Provide contents and case studies useful for social media;
  • Admin and finance work related to the Second Home Program;
  • Other relevant duties and responsibilities as required.

Qualification and Experiences:

  • Bachelor’s degree (Master's degree will be preferred) in Management, Social Work, Development Studies, or any relevant field from a reputed University;
  • At least 1 year's work experience in the similar field;
  • Teaching and training experience will be preferred.

Skills:

  • Good management and operation skills;
  • Good training and facilitation skills;
  • Good networking and interpersonal skills;
  • Soft skills of research and facilitating community engagement;
  • Good spoken and written skills in English and Nepali;
  • Good report writing skills.

Competencies:

  • Competent in managing diverse group of students
  • Basic understanding of child friendly learning environment and child safeguarding;
  • Competent in working independently and meeting deadlines with minimal supervision.

Location:

The position is based in Salleri, Solukhumbu, with frequent visits to project sites as and when required.
