Brief Introduction of Organization

Aawaaj has been working with women and children from socially excluded groups to increase opportunities, better access to resources, services, improving social equity and improving environments of existing systems at community and government level.  To establish and strengthen our Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) system, we are seeking a highly skilled MEAL Coordinator. The coordinator will lead the development and implementation of a multi-donor MEAL system at both the project and organizational levels.

Key Responsibilities:

a. Strategic MEAL System Development:

  • Develop and implement sector-specific MEAL (Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning) action plans aligned with program goals.
  • Conduct assessments and impact analyses of programs through internal and external evaluations and studies.
  • Ensure data-driven decision-making and compliance with donor commitments.

b. Capacity Building & Technical Support:

  • Train project teams and consortium partners on data collection, indicator measurement, impact analysis, and reporting.
  • Develop and adapt MEAL systems, frameworks, plans, study methodologies, and accountability mechanisms.
  • Provide expert guidance and build team capacity on community feedback and response mechanisms and risk management plan execution.
  • Provide technical and backstopping support to programs for the implementation of monitoring and evaluation activities, data management, and integration of cross-functional issues.

c. Monitoring & Evaluation of Programs:

  • Lead during- and post-intervention monitoring, follow-ups, internal evaluations, and operational audits, and execute evaluation findings.
  • Ensure cross-functional considerations like gender sensitivity, survivor-centered approaches, and Do-No-Harm principles are integrated.
  • Document, validate, and enhance MEAL reports and recommendations for program improvement.

d. Accountability & Transparency:

  • Design and implement accessible and cost-effective complaint response mechanisms.
  • Ensure proper recording, tracking, and resolution of community feedback.

e. Knowledge Management & Reporting:

  • Document and oversee project-wise data management, reporting, and dissemination of MEAL learnings and best practices.
  • Ensure timely donor reporting and follow-up on recommendations from internal and external monitoring and evaluations.
  • Support the grant management team in fundraising strategies, multi-thematic concept/proposal writing, and donor negotiations.

f. Learning Sharing:

  • Systematically capture best practices, document, and disseminate knowledge, skills, and experiences within the organization and project teams.
  • Ensure efficient transfer of valuable insights to build capacity and drive continuous improvement.
  • Provide expertise to support the Head of Mission in fundraising, negotiation, and review of project proposals (focusing on MEAL and cross-functional issues).

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Master’s degree in Social Science, Development Studies, or related fields.
  • 5+ years of experience in MEAL (Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning) roles, preferably in multi-donor environments.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and reporting skills.
  • Expertise in multi-thematic data management tools, survey and data collection methodologies, and accountability frameworks.
