Aawaaj is a non-governmental and non-profit social organization established in 1999 by a group of professionals dedicated to protect and promote the rights of children and women and initiating integrated protection programs aimed at ending gender-based violence, trafficking, forced/early child marriage, harmful social norms, discrimination against children and women in Nepal. Aawaaj has been working in partnership with UNICEF since 2020 including this project entitled" Promotion of positive gender norms, prevention of gender-based violence and increasing access to services under the “Empower Women and Prosperous Nepal (EWPN) The objective of this project is to enable women and girls to fully realize their potential, free from violence, discrimination, and enjoy their human rights to the fullest" The UNICEF component of the project specifically addresses discriminatory social and gender norms perpetuating inequality.
