Himalayan Children Society is a non-profit, non-government organization established in 1998. HCS specialize in remote Education through partnerships with the community schools of remote district i.e., Humla. It is well known for the Model Hostel Concept at remote district and a perfect example of Public Private Partnerships for community development since 1998.
Himalayan Children Society is looking for an experienced and qualified Nepali national to fill the following position
Position: Hostel Warden
Quantity: 1
Duty Station: Yalbang, Humla
Contract: 1 year (Extendable for 3 years based on performances)
Working hours: Must stay at hostel (24 hours)
Purpose of this Job: The hostel warden is responsible for safeguarding the children residing at hostel from any forms of abuse, misbehaviors, exploitations, monitor the Physical health and hygiene and general well-being of the students along with promotion of sound Psycho- social behaviors within the residential facilities in coordination with Parents, teachers and HCS Management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for safeguarding of the students residing at hostel
- Prepare a plan of action for child protection activities and execute accordingly at hostel
- Develop child protection committees, youth clubs, girls' clubs, at hostels and Yalbang school, and mobilize them for their empowerment and capacity strengthening
- Work closely with the Child rights committee of Ward offices and Namkha rural municipality
- Maintain a good standard of behavior and discipline in accordance with the student code of conduct and regulations developed by students and HCS management
- Responsible of equal distribution of supports provided by Himalayan Children Society without any bias to the children
- Arranges for first-aid and medical treatment in case of any emergency in coordination with the local health post
- Maintain good and regular communication with the parents regarding their children’s behavior, academic performances and health issues.
- Treat the children with utmost respect and maintain privacy
- Prepare Individual Child profiles (Updated photo, contact info of parents, etc.)
- Plan and organize awareness program on reproductive and sexual health education, online crimes, bullies, child protection etc.
- Manage and response to incidents and emergencies relating to health, child protection, safety and general wellbeing of students and to liaise effectively with project Manager.
- Plan and organize meetings and interaction sessions with the parents 6 monthly at hostel.
- Plan and organize meetings with the higher authority weekly basis and as per need.
Required Qualification:
- Minimum Intermediate degree preferably in social work
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working with the children and child protection areas
- Fluency in Nepali and English language
- Excellent communication and good interpersonal skills
- Should be child friendly and have patience working with the children
- Establish a good network with stakeholders preferably with local community
- Appropriate computer skills( including MS word, Excel, Power point )
- Have sound knowledge and skills in report writing, case studies and presentation
