ADRA Nepal invites applications from qualified and experienced Nepalese citizens for the below position:
1. Cooperative and Market Development Officer- One Position
Station: Based in Butwal with frequent field travel to Rupendehi and Kapilvastu districts
The Cooperative and Market Development Officer will work under the Jersey Overseas Aid (JOA) and ADRA UK funded “The Enhanced Rural AI (TERAI) Project for Smallholder Dairy Farmers in Nepal” and will act as a coordination focal point to the implementing partner at field level. He/she will provide technical support to partners’ staffs for field activities implementation and play a major role in assisting local partners with planning, budgeting, and executing technical trainings (including Farmer Field Schools in Dairy), technologies demonstrations, groups meetings, and interaction workshops, developing dairy related training and IEC materials. He/She will assess potential dairy development opportunities at the local level, develop a market information system, form new cooperatives, and strengthen existing cooperatives (including capacity building in cooperative development, business management, and operation of collection center), facilitating service providers for input and output marketing at the project areas, collection centre establishment/strengthening and coordination/collaboration with different stakeholders at the local level. He/She will also support to conducting Farmers’ Market Schools, establishing linkage between milk producer farmers, milk collectors, and processors. He/She will also be responsible for monitoring and evaluating project activities at the field. The officer will ensure that the required information and data are provided to the supervisor for project reports.
Qualification and Competencies:
- A Bachelor’s degree (preferred Master’s degree) in Livestock Production and Management or Veterinary Science, with at least three years of experience in Livestock development (including cattle/buffalo management, agriculture/dairy cooperative strengthening, and dairy MIS).
- Experience in enterprise development, market development, and women’s empowerment is an added advantage.
- Proven experience in organizing and facilitating training related to improved shed management, dairy feed, breed, health, input, and output service management.
- Strong skills in coordination, and collaboration with partners, local government, and stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
- Good leadership, and team-building abilities, and strong communication skills, with fluency in both written and spoken English and Nepali.
- Candidate should have a valid two-wheeler driving license.
