4. Kathmandu Forestry College 

Kathmandu Forestry College (KAFCOL) Public Limited is a dynamic and expanding academic institution located in Chandragiri-8, Gairigaun, Kathmandu. Since its inception in 2005 the college has been offering B.Sc. Forestry program in affiliation with Tribhuvan University, Nepal. Additionally, since 2009, it has been running a Diploma in Forestry program in collaboration with the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT), Government of Nepal.

In 2012, KAFCOL partnered with the University of Salzburg, Austria, to jointly offer an MSc in UNIGIS Program in Geographical Information Science and Systems (UNIGIS MSc). Furthermore, in 2015, the college launched a new M.Sc. Program in Natural Resources Management and Rural Development (MSc in NRM-RD) in affiliation with Tribhuvan University.

KAFCOL is also actively engaged in research and outreach projects focusing on biodiversity, forestry, and natural resources management. The college was established through a joint effort by the Nepal Agroforestry Foundation, a national NGO dedicated to promoting agroforestry, and a group of professionals in forestry and natural resource management.

5. Role Overview:

The principal is the senior leader at KAFCOL, responsible for overseeing college administration and ensuring the delivery of quality education. S/he drives KAFCOL with strategic guidance and leadership, focusing on effective program management and implementation, while also ensuring sound financial management. 

The principal will serve as an invitee member of the Board of Directors meeting from the KAFCOL management side. Their role includes supporting the Board Chair in presenting agendas, ensuring proper documentation of the meeting, managing meeting logistics, and implementing decisions in close consultation with the Board Chair.

The principal leads the college management team to handle strategic direction, delivery, and decision-making, ensuring effective coordination to achieve KAFCOL's objectives. The principal is responsible for representing KAFCOL to various agencies (TU/IOF, universities, CTEVT, Ministries, office of the company registrar, provincial and local governments, schools, and stakeholders) to promote KAFCOL's objectives, business interests, and social responsibilities.

This position is responsible for reviewing and developing KAFCOL's periodical and contextual strategies and submitting them to the Board of Directors for approval.

This position implements all necessary policies and procedures to ensure that KAFCOL staff follow correct protocols. It also recommends any changes needed to improve policies, procedures, and practices to the Board of Directors.

6. Requirements:

• Possess a minimum of 10 years of experience, including 5 years in senior management roles within reputable colleges, universities, research and development institutions, or government organizations.
• Demonstrates smart and dynamic leadership and managerial skills, coupled with a strong business and service-oriented mindset.
• The concept of modern innovative teaching methodologies should effectively train both teachers and students.
• Demonstrating the overall financial management skills.
• Exhibiting diverse disciplinary human resource management skills.
• Outstanding interpersonal skills, including listening, communication, coordination, collaboration, and influencing.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite, and IT Management Systems oriented
• Exceptional communication skills in reading, writing, listening, and speaking, in both English and Nepali.

7. Qualification:

Master’s degree in related field, such as Natural Resource Management, Forestry, Agroforestry, Watershed management, Environment, Wildlife Management, and Climate Change, or relevant subjects. However, a PhD in relevant subject and or MBA is preferable.
