VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

Nepal Youth Network for Sustainable Development (NYN), a national-level network operating across all seven provinces and 77 districts of Nepal, is seeking an energetic and visionary leader for the position of Youth Engagement Officer (Environment). This role focuses on leading impactful initiatives in collaboration with development partners, thematic networks, and local youth clubs nationwide.

Position: Youth Engagement Officer (Environment)

Duty Station: Kathmandu, Nepal

Key Responsibilities

Youth Mobilization and Coordination

  • Facilitate monthly online and in-person meetings with youth leaders to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Support local youth groups in planning and implementing awareness campaigns and environmental initiatives.

Project Activities Implementation

  • Oversee activities such as cleanliness drives, plantation programs, and school-level awareness sessions.
  • Lead and organize national and international events, including conclaves, conventions, and celebrations like Environment Day and Youth Day.

Capacity Building and Advocacy

  • Organize lobby meetings and quarterly online training sessions for youth leaders on environmental advocacy and protection strategies.
  • Assist youth leaders in applying acquired skills to address local environmental challenges.

Partnerships and Collaboration

  • Collaborate with municipalities, schools, and project coordinators to strengthen partnerships.
  • Serve as the focal point for coordination between NYN Central Office and partners, including TDH Germany, Paryawaran, IDEAS Environment Rights Network, and provincial and local youth networks.

Fundraising, Monitoring, and Reporting

  • Support fundraising campaigns and proposal development.
  • Monitor the progress of projects and campaigns, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Prepare monthly reports documenting good practices, challenges, and success stories.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Development Studies, Social Work, or a related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in youth mobilization or environmental project implementation.

Knowledge:

  • Familiarity with environmental issues, assessments, research, and climate action campaigns.

Skills:

  • Strong communication skills (both written and spoken in English and Nepali).
  • Proficiency in facilitating lobby meetings, national events, training sessions, and team meetings.
  • Fine-tuned in computer applications, media tools, graphic design, and online platforms (preferred).

Attitude:

  • Passionate about youth empowerment and environmental sustainability.

Other Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel to project locations as needed.
