Children-Women in Social Service and Human Rights (CWISH), a non-profit civil society organization established in 1993 with an aim to ensure social justice, protection and promotion of human rights especially the rights of children and youths, invites applications for the post: Youth Advocacy Coordinator from interested and eligible candidates (Nepali citizens only) who are reliable, accountable, and have ability to deliver results with highest level of integrity.

The vacancy is called for Nepal based positions for a south Asian regional (Nepal, India, Pakistan) project, “From LOCAL to GLOBAL: strengthening, networking and capacity building of youth-led activities for the right to a clean and healthy environment” funded by Terre Des hommes (TDH Germany) and Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) Germany.

Position: Youth Advocacy Coordinator- environmental rights and climate justice of children and youth

Required No.: One

Duration and work Station: December 2024 – December 2025 Kathmandu with frequent travel to project districts (7 districts- Dhading, Chitwan, Makwanpur, Dolakha, Ramechhap, Kavre, Kathmandu)

Job Summary:

S/he is responsible for all advocacy initiatives of the project/organization: organizing events and campaigns, monitoring advocacy activities in the districts; developing advocacy and communication strategies and plan, develop materials/documents; create social media content and handle social media and websites, online platforms, leading to organize capacity building and advocacy related activities at national, provincial and local levels - training, workshop and research-based activities; collecting and compiling data and preparing reports. This position reports to the Project Coordinator.

Key Qualification and competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social science (sociology/social work/development studies), environmental science3, forestry, agriculture, media or related field.
  • Minimum Three years  of demonstrated advocacy related work experience in climate justice or social development sector.
  • Training and experience in climate rights is desirable.
  • Experience in doing lobby, advocacy and campaigns, coordination, youth mobilization, training delivery and report writing.
  • Experience in developing/producing advocacy and communication materials
  • Excellent coordination and communication skills
  • Sense of activism, self-motivated, goal-oriented, enthusiastic and entrepreneurial attitude.
  • Excellent spoken and written English and Nepali.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Lead all advocacy initiatives to implement the project, build relationship with national, local government officials, stakeholders and also support team in building relationship with provincial and municipal level.
  • Develop advocacy plan at the local level, provincial and national level and implement the plan.
  • Policy review of the local government and province government of project implementation site and take proactive measures for policy advocacy.
  • Organize and support project campaigns on environmental justice, child and youth rights, support youth empowering activities and youth led initiatives.
  • Facilitate training and workshops in national, provincial and local municipalities as per the need of the project.
  • Work closely with the team and support in planning and implementation of advocacy and other project activities in the districts/ program communities.
  • Prepare advocacy and communication materials on environmental right/climate justice, child and youth rights and disseminate as appropriate.
  • Collect and compile data and prepare project reports together with team.
  • Support district youth mobilization officers and youth leaders to strengthen and mobilize youth groups and networks and engage in project activities.
