Rural Development Centre (RDC) Nepal is a non-political and non-profitable organization established in June 2002 with its head office in Rautahat District of Nepal. Since then, RDC is heavily engaged in humanitarian assistance, community development, conservation of natural resources, and environmental protection mainly in the Terai region of Nepal through the dozens of humanitarian and long-term development projects reaching out to the children, adolescent, youth, women, landless, urban poor, and people living with disabilities, HIV & AIDS, conflict and disaster survivors from the poor families of historically marginalized Dalits, Muslims, Madheshi and Indigenous communities and other underprivileged groups.

ROLE PURPOSE
The WASH Technician will play a vital role in implementing and maintaining water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) services, with a primary focus on hand pump installation and maintenance. The technician will work closely with community members, local authorities, and the project team to ensure the successful execution of the hand pump installation project, contributing to improved access to clean and safe water. WASH Technicians must report the progress regularly. WASH technician is overall responsible for designing and estimating the cost during the implementation phase.

ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Conduct site assessments and identify suitable locations for handpump installation.
- Perform the installation, repair, and maintenance of handpumps following established technical guidelines and standards.
- Ensure all tools and equipment are used safely and maintained in good condition.
- Train community members on proper usage, operation, and basic maintenance of handpumps.
- Collaborate with local water committees to establish sustainable maintenance systems.
- Monitor and evaluate the functionality of installed handpumps.
- Ensure compliance with WASH standards, safety protocols, and project specifications.
- Document and report any technical challenges or delays.
- Provide technical guidance and hands-on training to community members or selected venders.
- Promote awareness of water hygiene practices in the community.
- Support the project team in planning and scheduling activities.
- Maintain accurate records of installations, materials, and tools used.
- Liaise with suppliers and contractors to ensure timely delivery of materials.

Educational qualification, Skills and Knowledge
- Overseer/ Sub-Engineer (Civil) or equivalent with minimum 1-year experience in a similar project or role.
- Familiarity with community-based WASH initiatives and participatory approaches.
- Strong understanding of WASH guidelines and standards (e.g., Sphere standards).
- Ability to work in challenging field conditions with minimal supervision.
- Basic computer skills for reporting and documentation.
- Preference will be given to local candidates of Rautahat with local language speaking
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT
Extreme field travel for project implementation. WASH Technician should be flexible in any kind of situation regarding time, weather, and filed area where s/he has been assigned to perform the task. He/she should not be biased on culture and communities. The work area is in high temperatures during summer and low temperatures and cold waves during winter. The working area is also prone to flood during monsoon.
