Introduction:

The postholder is responsible in assisting Gurkha veterans and their eligible dependants in Gurkha Veterans’ Advice Centre (GVAC) Pokhara’s area of responsibility in processing UK settlement applications and providing them with factual information on settlement & welfare provisions available in the UK.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

Job description:

  • Be the Subject Mater Expert on all things Gurkha Settlement and provision of welfare services in the UK.
  • Deliver 1:1 session in filling up of Visa Applications and other associated forms.
  • Verification of required documents submitted by Gurkha veterans and their eligible dependants.
  • Respond to e-mail and telephone enquiries from customers as well as from stakeholder partners.
  • Manage of appointments with Visa Facilitation Services (VFS) and International Organisation for Migration (IOM) for the Gurkha veterans.
  • Any other duties as directed by Line Manager.

What you will be doing:

Responsibilities:

  • Provide factual information to Gurkha veterans on visa processes.
  • Assist Veterans on State Pension applications.
  • Keeping Statistics of queries/visits/applications received.
  • Liaise with stakeholder partners e.g. Records Office, Gurkha Settlement Office, Area Welfare Centres, Gurkha Welfare Advice Centres UK, VSF and other GVACs as necessary.
  • Support EO GVAC in his/her tasks, including deputising for him/her when required.
  • Stand in for other VSOs within GVAC Pokhara as necessary.
  • Taking reasonable care for own health and safety at work, and for any others in the workplace.
  • Any other tasks commensurate with the grade.
  • Any other duties as directed by Line Manager.

You must have:

  • Excellent written/ spoken English and Nepali language skills.
  • Excellent IT knowledge using MS Office tools (Including Outlook, Excel & Word)
  • Very good knowledge of Nepali identity documentation and Knowledge of Gurkha Settlement is preferable for this role to deliver the job responsibility effectively and efficiently.

  • Salary 95,534.00 NPR per month (Permanent).
  • Gratuity after completing three years of service.

Successful candidates must meet the security requirements before they can be appointed. The level of security needed is a Govt of Nepal Police Report for employment in Nepal.

Selection process details:
