SHAKHI FRIENDS OF WOMEN

SHAKHI is a young women-led grassroots feminist organization dedicated to empowering women and girls from marginalized and vulnerable communities in the Terai/Madhesh region of Nepal, specifically in the Bara District. Our mission is to promote gender equity, social justice, and access to basic rights and opportunities for historically excluded groups. including the Dom, BIN, DAS, and Natuwa communities. These groups face deep-rooted social discrimination, poverty, and harmful practices like early forced marriages. Through our feminist approach, we seek to dismantle these barriers and create a society where women and girls can live with dignity, free from violence and discrimination.
