Trail-based Tourism Development Project (TTDP) is a bilateral initiative between the Government of Nepal and the Government of Switzerland with main goal of “People in Koshi Province increase their income and contribute to conservation of culture with innovative and sustainable tourism offers”. On Behalf of Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), Helvetas Nepal provides technical assistance to the project. Helvetas Nepal invites applications from competent and committed Nepali Citizens for the following positions:

1. Team Leader (TL) - 1 

Job purpose: Responsible for providing strategic direction to the project team to accomplish project objectives and targets as stipulated in the project document and LogFrame.

Required Education and Experience: A Master’s degree in tourism or development studies or equivalent qualifications. Minimum of 15 years’ experience in managing participatory development projects and in establishing quality control and monitoring systems, out of which at least 10 years’ experience in leading a multidisciplinary team; experience as expert and/or team leader for externally financed projects; experience in working with participatory planning methods would be an advantage. 

2. Administration and Human Resources Manager (AHRM) - 1 

Job purpose: The position is responsible for smooth and well-functioning administrative and human resources management, procurement and logistics as per the organizational policy manuals. 

Required Education and Experience: Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in public administration, human resource management or a relevant subject. S/he should have at least 7 years of experience in a similar position, with at least five years for an international organization. 

3. Social Safeguard Officer (SSO) - 1 

Job Purpose: This position is responsible for overall social mobilization process, equitable participation, and the integration of gender equality and social inclusion (GESI) principles in all project activities at assigned trails.

Required Education and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in sociology, anthropology or rural development with preferably 5 years working experience in development projects in social issues. At least 3 years’ experience in rural development and participatory project planning and preparation methodologies, including social surveys and skills in social and poverty analysis, and rapid rural appraisal techniques.

For all positions, commitment towards gender equality, social inclusion, and poverty reduction is a must.

Duty station: For TL and AHRM - PSU Biratnagar; For SSO – field office.  Extensive field visits for all positions. 

Duration: Initially three years with a possibility of extension. 

Salary and Benefits: As per rules and regulation of Helvetas Nepal.
