Food for Life Nepal
JOB OPPORTUNITY
Date of Publication: 2025.1.2
Food for Life Nepal (FFLN) is a non-governmental, non-profit, secular organization. FFLN is formally registered with the District Administration Office (DAO No. 910) in Kathmandu and is affiliated with the Social Welfare Council (SWC No. 42035). Registered with Inland Revenue Office for annual tax exemption and monthly VAT submission with PAN#232 our registered statute provides us to engage in numerous activities of social integration in Nepal.
FFLN is working as an implementing partner of 'mid-day meal' program for community schools which is conceived, sponsored and funded jointly by the Federal Government of Nepal and local municipality. Our major responsibility of this program is to prepare and on-time delivery of the stated quality and quantity of warm, hygienic, organic and nutrition-certified meals to the attending number of students every school day in the community schools we have identified and agreed to be associated with.
The vision, concept and very basic objective of this program is to invest in our country's primary human resource development sector among financially below-average denizens as well as in developing a positive mind-set that ultimately result in meeting school-going children's 100% enrollment; and help control the cycle of student drop-outs in community schools.
FFLN envisaged a vision of its own to help achieve this prime goal of the Federal Government of Nepal with a realistic grass-root level approach: (a) sector-wise central kitchen (b) nutritionist prepared and certified mid-day meal menu for each school-day (c) well-prepared warm, hygienic and organic food for on-time delivery.
FFLN mission is to reach out to serve 25,000 community school children with the pre-cooked, warm, hygienic, organic and nutrition-certified mid-day meal by 2032 AD to help meet the Federal Government basic objective of this program. Today we have been able to do so for 10,000 + students so far; and steadily growing to reaching out to other areas. FFLN encourages every stakeholder and guardian of the family for enrollment and retainment of their ward(s) as well as to discourage the students of their possible drop-outs.
Nepal boasts of a staggering 350,000 community schools, working tirelessly to provide education opportunities to children of deprived socio-economy. While the government extends support for free meals to these schools, the challenges of meal management persist due to limited fund. Food for Life Nepal plays a crucial role, acting as an instrumental bridge to fill the gap between the meagre resources available and the nutritional needs of the students. The impacts of the Mid-Day Meal program on children, communities, and the environment are substantial. The increase in student enrollment, attendance rates, and overall academic performance, along with the promotion of equality and better health outcomes, are clear indicators of its positive influence.
FFLN is an equal opportunity employer offering every team-member to explore & expose their unique quality and potentiality alongside their line of duty. As part of its service expansion and extension policy to reach out to as many community schools as possible in Nepal, FFLN is almost set to start this very program to Madhayapur Thimi Municipality in Bhaktapur district. It boasts of 18 community schools in total with around 3,500 ECD to class V students to cater to.
