FHI 360 has been working in Nepal since 1993. We request applications from qualified individuals for short-term assignments as mentioned below:
1. Private Sector Advisor
The Private Sector Advisor will lead the overall private sector engagement component of USAID Clean Air program ensuring technical quality for achieving expected project outputs and outcomes. S/he will primarily work under the supervision of Chief of Party (COP) but in close coordination with program’s partners and other key stakeholders including government stakeholders at various levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical support for the development of private sector engagement strategy and design of interventions for enhancement of involvement and investment of this sector in addressing air pollution issues.
- Provide technical support for the assessment of locally led /innovative solutions for clean air technologies/practices.
- Provide technical support to enhance capacity of business organizations and social enterprises for addressing air pollution issues through adoption of cleaner technologies, better business processes and practices.
- Effectively communicate, coordinate, and collaborate with partners/consultants, and other key stakeholders including local government authorities, provincial and federal level government agencies, private sector organizations, other projects, and civil society organizations to build synergy in achieving the objectives of the project.
- Contribute to policy analysis carried out by consortium team conducive to greater private sector competitiveness.
- Provide technical inputs to local governments in policy reform, plan, and budget allocation for promoting locally led, greener economy development business and social entrepreneurship.
- Coordinate with key public and private sector institution, authorities, donors, and any other relevant organizations to promote growth, access to finance, and private sector development.
- Assist the COP and Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP) with strategic and operational planning, including work planning, and ensure compliance with all reporting requirements of USAID and FHI 360.
- Provide strategic and technical support and guidance to partner organizations for implementation and reporting designed interventions.
- Support other related tasks of USAID Clean Air as assigned by COP or DCOP of FHI 360 Nepal office Country Director.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in business administration, marketing, business development, management, or related field with 3 – 5 years of experience preferably with a focus on the business environment as well as entrepreneurship and innovation in Nepal.
- Experience in managing/providing technical support to small and medium enterprises and/or managing private sector engagement within development programs, preferably in areas of business development, and improvement.
- Experience and understanding of the private sector−environment/air pollution nexus is preferable.
- Demonstrated capacity to work effectively with a range of stakeholders including government, private sector, finance institutions.
- Familiarity with development programs.
- Sound understanding and competence in private sector business development approaches and strategies including - business skills development, understanding of business viability dimensions.
- Knowledge of applying human-centered design or design thinking approaches in development program settings.
- Excellent managerial acumen and strategic decision-making ability to navigate evolving expectations, dynamic relationships, and varied team composition.

2. Social and Behavior Change Communication (SBCC) Specialist – Environment and Climate Change
Social and Behavior Change Communication (SBCC) Specialist is responsible to lead and manage SBCC program planning, design, implementation and monitoring of SBCC activities including digital solutions for USAID Clean Air project to promote and facilitate positive social and behavior change at individual, community, and societal levels. S/he will also be responsible for overall managing communications portfolio (including documentation and dissemination of communication materials, knowledge products, success stories and good practices) to ensure strategic, quality, effective and efficient communications of the project and its activities to the diverse stakeholder.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with project team including partners to understand the target audience, their characteristics, attitudes, beliefs, behaviors, needs, preferences, identify the barriers and facilitators to desired behaviors and, develop and implement SBCC strategy framework and effective communication strategies.
- Ensure development of clear, compelling, culturally appropriate, and persuasive messages, materials, and tools including print materials, radio scripts, social media campaigns, videos, and interactive platforms to effectively communicate with different segments of the target audience for maximum impact.
- Building the capacity of project staff, partners, and stakeholders in SBCC approaches and techniques through training workshops, providing technical assistance, and developing guidelines and resources to support effective communication practices.
- Provide technical assistance to the partners to develop SBCC implementation plan, execute them effectively and monitor them in Kathmandu Valley.
- Closely work with Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) team to ensure timely monitoring and evaluating the impact of SBCC interventions. This includes designing data collection tools, analyzing data, and using findings to inform adjustments and improvements in communication strategies.
- Adapt or design, develop, implement, and monitor feedback tool, analyze and share findings of the feedback tool, support to prepare and implement improvement plan in close collaboration with MEL team.
- Collaborate with other project stakeholders, including government agencies, community organizations, and private sector actors to ensure coordination and synergy in SBCC intervention implementation.
- Support in advocacy efforts to promote SBCC as a critical component of development projects. This includes building networks, participating in conferences and workshops, and sharing knowledge and best practices with the wider SBCC community and related stakeholders.
- Ensure quality and ethical standards of SBCC interventions. This involves adhering to ethical guidelines, applying rigorous research methodologies, and staying updated on emerging trends and innovations in the field.
- Document the SBCC process, outcomes, and lessons learned throughout the project. This includes preparing reports, case studies, and communication materials for dissemination and knowledge sharing.
- Keeping abreast of advancements in SBCC theory, research, and practice through continuous learning and staying connected with the broader SBCC community.
- Ensure compliance of branding and marking in all SBCC interventions and communications of the project.
- Conduct any other tasks as delegated by the supervisor, FHI 360 Documentation and Communication Manager, DCoP, and FHI 360 Nepal office Country Director.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Communication or other relevant subjects with 3- 5 years of relevant work experience or bachelor’s degree with five to seven years of experience in above mentioned field.
- Work experience and knowledge in designing, planning, implementing, and monitoring SBCC and digital solutions.
- Ability to work well with others and to develop and maintain positive working relationships.

3. Communication Officer
The Communication Officer is responsible for managing the overall communications of USAID Clean Air project ensuring strategic, quality, effective and efficient communication to diverse stakeholders. This position is responsible for providing support for planning, reporting, documentation, and management of program activities. The position holder is also expected to be adaptable, proactive, and capable of effectively disseminating knowledge products to diverse stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
Under the overall guidance of the supervisor, work closely with FHI 360 Nepal office Documentation and Communication Manager, project team and take lead for management of all communication related tasks including the followings:
- Operationalize and implement project’s strategic communication plan aligned with project goals and objectives.
- Prepare engaging and informative content, such as articles, newsletters, blog posts, and media updates, to promote the project's activities, achievements, and impacts.
- Identify key stakeholders, including project beneficiaries, community members, partners, and donors, and establish effective communication channels to engage and inform them about the project's progress.
- Build and maintain relationships with media outlets, journalists, and influencers to enhance the project's visibility.
- Manage the project's social media account and online presence. Create and schedule content, engage with followers, monitor discussions, and analyze metrics to optimize social media performance.
- Coordinate with FHI 360 communication team to ensure that the project's webpage is up-to-date, user-friendly, and contains relevant and accurate information.
- Regularly publish project updates, news articles, and other content on the website.
- Organize and coordinate project-related events, workshops, conferences, and public awareness campaigns. This includes planning logistics, coordinating speakers and participants, and managing event promotion.
- Closely coordinate with thematic leads and collaborate with designers, photographers, and videographers to create visually appealing and impactful materials such as infographics, photos, videos, and presentations that effectively communicate project messages.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of communication activities through data analysis, surveys, and feedback collection. Use insights to improve communication strategies and tactics.
- Prepare regular reports on communication activities, outcomes, and challenges.
- Provide high quality support to the process of project’s periodic planning and reporting process.
- Draft narratives for annual plan and budget (Annual Implementation Plan, Operational Plan, quarterly/monthly budget) and periodic reports (including Quarterly Progress Report, Annual Progress Report) as well as for any other reporting requirements of the project.
- Provide high quality support in periodic program review meetings, document action points and follow up with team members for execution.
- Review documents and provide quality input and feedback as assigned by the supervisor.
- Support for layout, formatting, editing and translation of the documents.
- Prepare concept notes, meeting minutes, memo, weekly and monthly updates, and any other documents as required.
- Document all communications, thought leadership products including media coverages in project’s repository.
- Participate in and contribute to periodic meetings and events.
- Ensure communication and documentation of success stories, contact matrix, newsletter, production of Social and Behavior Change Communication (SBCC) materials.
- Timely identify and report supervisor about any issues/challenges/gaps during project implementation.
- Represent USAID Clean Air at forums as and when required.
- Conduct any other tasks as delegated by the supervisor, FHI 360 Documentation and Communication Manager, DCoP, and FHI 360 Nepal office Country Director.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism, public relations, or a related field with 3 years of experience in above mentioned field. Master’s degree preferable with relevant experience.
- Experience in managing project communications with diverse stakeholders.
- Skilled in using various digital and social media platforms, social media management tools, and in content creation such as writing articles, blog posts, press releases, and social media content.
- Knowledge of media relations practices and experience in engaging with journalists and media outlets

4. Program Officer
The Program Officer is responsible for the management of USAID Clean Air project activities ensuring quality and effective and efficient implementation of project activities in close collaboration coordination with both internal team and implementing partners. This position is also responsible for providing support for documentation, communication, and management of program activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Under the overall guidance of the supervisors, work closely with project team and take lead for the management and coordination of project activities including followings:
- Assist CoP and DCoP in managing and implementing project activities in line with approved annual plan and budget.
- Ensure internal and external coordination, admin, logistics, financial processing, and reporting related to implementation of project activities such as trainings, workshops, or any other event.
- Closely coordinate with thematic leads and other project staffs on timely collection of data, information, plan, reports, and other project documents.
- Provide high quality support to the process of project’s periodic planning and reporting process.
- Draft narratives for annual plan and budget (Annual Implementation Plan, Operational Plan, quarterly/monthly budget) and periodic reports (quarterly and annual progress report) as well as for any other reporting requirements of the project.
- Periodically monitor project’s progress against operational plan; timely report to the management team for shortcomings and prepare catch-up plan to ensure achievement of project performance indicators.
- Provide high quality support in periodic program review meetings, document action points and follow up with team members for execution.
- Review plan, reports, concept notes and any other documents received for the project and report to the supervisor with quality input and feedback.
- Support for layout, formatting, editing and translation of the documents.
- Prepare concept notes, meeting minutes, memo, weekly and monthly updates, and any other documents as required.
- Support project documentation by maintaining project’s repository.
- Participate in and contribute to periodic meetings and events.
- Support SBCC unit for documentation of success stories, contact matrix, newsletter, production of SBCC materials.
- Develop scope of work, terms of reference, request for proposal, and contractual packages for individual consultants, service contracts, sub-awards including required extensions and modifications with assistance from the FHI 360 Nepal Country Office.
- Timely identify and report supervisor about any issues/challenges/gaps during project implementation.
- Represent USAID Clean Air at forums as and when required.
- Conduct any other tasks as delegated by the DCoP, CoP and FHI 360 Nepal office Country Director.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration/management or public health or social sciences or related field with 3 years of experience in above mentioned field. Master’s degree preferable with relevant experience.

5. Deputy Project Director
The Deputy Project Director (DPD) will assist EpiC Nepal Project Director in oversight of the program and technical resources for the EpiC Nepal’s Global Fund technical assistance (GFTA) activities; procurement and supply chain management and COVID-19 activities. The DPD, under the guidance and support from the Project Director, will provide technical leadership for program design, planning, implementation and monitoring of the project activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all the activities related to GFTA; procurement and supply chain management and COVID-19 response currently being implemented through EpiC Nepal.
- Review, ensure and provide support for timely implementation of project workplan activities, strategies, and approaches with high quality deliverables.
- Manage the development of sub-awards, contracts, amendments, and annual work plans including activities, budgets and implementation plans and monitor sub-projects to ensure that implementation is conducted in a timely and technically sound manner.
- Review and ensure that sub-awards, contracts, and amendment documents meet the program and technical requirements and maintain quality assurance.
- Prepare program reports, briefs and other communication and reporting requirements for FHI 360, donors, and the Government of Nepal ensuring their accuracy, timeliness, and standards.
- Support EpiC Nepal Project Director to ensure appropriate levels of technical assistance in program operations from EpiC headquarter in timely manner, and to ensure EpiC Nepal’s technical quality, expertise and contribution is shared widely with HQ, donors, Government and collaborating partners.
- Facilitate and ensure supportive supervision and monitoring are regularly planned and implemented and ensure issues and actions identified from the supervision visits are shared and addressed in time.
- Provide oversight and management support for transitioning of electronic Logistics Management Information System (eLMIS) to local platforms while ensuring proper capacity strengthening of local organizations.
- Provide oversight to supervise the day-to-day work of the GFTA, Procurement and Supply Management (PSM) and COVID-19 team.
- Work with relevant EpiC Nepal Project team and FHI 360 staff for communications and public relations to coordinate publications, documentation and dissemination of successes, good practices and lessons learned.
- Provide support to Project Director to maintain project’s visibility and coordination at national, provincial and district level.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the EpiC Nepal Project Director or FHI 360 Nepal office Country Director.
Requirements
- Master’s degree or its international equivalent in public health, management, social science, or other relevant fields with 5 – 7 years of relevant experience.
- Experience of working with a non-governmental organization (NGO) – preferably with a focus on health systems strengthening including supply chain management and pandemic response.
- Demonstrated leadership in building and sustaining positive working relationships and partnerships with NGOs, Government, and partners.
- Proven track record of increasing responsibility to oversee all aspects of USAID-supported projects, including financial, human resource, compliance, and quality assurance components.
- Demonstrated experience negotiating annual work plans and directing teams to complete objectives/activities on time within budget while meeting high quality standards.
- Excellent program management, implementation, and monitoring skills.
