ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND:
SAPPROS Nepal is a national, non‐governmental, and non-profit making organization established in 1991 and dedicated to reducing poverty in Nepal. To this end, it works on five holistic components: (i) Organizational Development and Capacity Building, (ii) Infrastructure and WASH, (iii) Education, Health, and Nutrition (IV) Food Security and Livelihoods (iv) Resilience, Climate Justice and DRR/M and (v) Health and Nutrition. Currently, SAPPROS’s geographical coverage includes six districts of Nepal spread over Karnali, Sudur Paschim, Bagmati, and Madhesh provinces. Livelihood recovery, emergency response, agriculture and water resource development, Health and Nutrition, and community resource mobilization are the key areas of expertise of SAPPROS Nepal.
PROJECT SUMMARY:
The JP-RWEE phase II aims to expand rural women farmers’ access to markets, create green recovery jobs, and develop resilient livelihoods through entrepreneurship development as well as a climate-resilient and sustainable food system. The project is also responsible for social and behavioral change communication related to nutrition, capacity building of rural women in food storage structures, and promoting risk-management strategies among rural women.
Over the period of 4 years, the RWEE –II will target direct beneficiaries of 6,000 rural women consisting of 1,000 single women, 100 women with disabilities, 50 LGBTQI, 2,000 lactating mothers, 500 pregnant women, 1,000 Madhesi women, 500 Dalit women, 500 Janajati women and 350 GBV survivors. The programme also intends to reach 25,800 family members of rural women farmers as indirect beneficiaries.
The overall goal of the RWEE II is to contribute to securing rural women’s livelihoods, rights and resilience to advance sustainable development among rural women.
Job Purpose
The Value chain and Business Development facilitator is required to provide BDS (Business Development Services) and value chain development-related support to groups, cooperatives, and women entrepreneurs.
General Position Summary
The Value Chain/Business Development Facilitator is responsible for driving value creation and business growth by identifying opportunities, developing strategies, and implementing initiatives that optimize the value chain and foster sustainable business development.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the District Coordinator and other district team members to create a congenial environment for the effective delivery of business development and value chain development activities in the field.
- Provide technical support to the district project team in planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting of the field activities in line with the project goal and objectives
- Facilitate agriculture, market, livestock, and livelihood technical sessions with team leader and other staff
- Keep all the records updated on project area requirements, implementation and adoption status
- Organise a project review meeting at Palika level, identify gaps and issues, and suggest actions to the team leader accordingly for further improvement.
- Coordinate with the local government and other stakeholders to develop synergy in programs
- Review, revise, and upgrade the business plans of the beneficiaries for credit/loans and provide technical assistance and advisory services to facilitate access to finance from microfinance institutions and banks.
- Involve in awareness campaigns and regular stakeholder meetings.
- Provide orientation sessions, motivate and encourage women for resilient Livelihood.
- Maintain close communication & coordination with district/field project team members and concerned stakeholders.
- Conduct awareness creation and mobilization meetings with the beneficiaries in the targeted areas on the urgency and necessity of enrollment in micro-finance intervention of the project with support from project field staff.
- Plan for the timely monitoring and evaluation and submission of reports as required by the project.
- Play an active role as a facilitator and coordinator to establish linkages, and develop mutual understanding and agreement between either parties interested in enrolling in the project. Organize meetings with different project stakeholders.
- Promoting Gender Equity and Social Justice
- Conduct orientation sessions on insurance education to farmer groups and women group members as per guidance and requirements based on curriculum.
- Coordination with microfinance, insurance companies, cooperatives, elected bodies, and other concerned stakeholders.
Academic qualification/ experiences:
- Intermediate level Plant Science and Animal Science with at least three years of experience in a relevant field. At least two years of field experience working with rural farmers in agriculture, agriculture market, and livelihood development project implementation including farmers' capacity building, technical training, field support, data collection, etc
- Ability to work effectively with diverse communities and stakeholders in a rural context with the skill in community empowerment especially with the rural farmers of Madhesh Province of Nepal.
- Updated knowledge of key issues in rural development (gender, social inclusion, equity, empowerment, etc.)
- Proficiency in organizing and facilitating training sessions
- Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills at community level
- Computer skills with MS Office and data collection with reporting will be an advantage
- Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English and Nepali language. An additional benefit will be to the local language speakers of Madheshi/Maithili language speakers.
- Good coordination, and communication with the community and different stakeholders
- Abitlity of multitasking and delivering output in a short-defined period
