Association of Youth Organizations Nepal (AYON), established in 2005, aims to bring youth organizations together to provide a common platform for collaboration, cooperation, joint actions and collective endeavors between youth organizations in Nepal. AYON is a national network of non-government, non-religious, not-for-profit youth organizations in Nepal. It acts as an umbrella organization of youth organizations. It calls for coordination, network, support and cooperation from the government, non-government, business institutions, civil society and young people for collaborative actions for youth programs and policies. USAID Adolescent Reproductive Health (ARH) is an adolescent co-led initiative to empower girls and boys, 10-19 years including the most marginalized, to attain their adolescent reproductive health (ARH) rights. The goal of the program is to support adolescents to reach their full potential by; ensuring they receive correct and appropriate reproductive health (RH) information and guidance to decision-making skills, creating an environment conductive in making healthy reproductive health decisions and facilitating translation of these decisions into healthy behaviors.

AYON announces vacancy for the following positions to be a part of USAID Adolescent Reproductive Health (ARH):

Position: Youth Mobilization Specialist

Vacancy: 1

Workstation: Lumbini and Karnali Province

Duration: up to 1 year and possibility of extension depending on performance

Minimum Academic Qualification and working experienceMaster degree in Public Health /Health /Sociology/ Development Studies or relevant field with three to five years of experiences in Adolescent Reproductive Health, com-munity/ youth mobilization or youth engagement activities. Related council registration is must.
Roles and responsibilities
  • Develop trusting relationships with young people to encourage their participation in programs and initiatives
  • Ensure youth engagement in any of the forums and align them with social behavior change (SBC)
  • Support district youth mobilization and social norms officers, Resource person and youth leaders to strengthen and mobilize youth groups and networks and engage in project activities
  • Work closely with the team and support in planning and implementation of youth engagement activities in the province/ districts/ municipalities
Specific skills
  • Strong ability to build relationships with diverse youth populations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for engaging youth and reporting
  • Act as a mentor and advocate, providing technical support and guidance
  • Knowledge and experience on ARH, youth led activism, health system of Nepal especially at province and local level
  • Ability to create, implement and evaluate youth programs
  • Prior experiences with youth led organization for youth engagement activities
  • Experience in providing guidance to youth clubs and groups at local level in regard to organizational development
  • Experiences in organizing training, meeting, conference and policy dialogue at different levels for policy changes
  • Develop advocacy plan at the local as well as provincial level and implement the plan
  • Policy review of the local government and province government of project implementation site and take proactive measures for policy advocacy
  • Organize and support project campaigns on FP and ARH, support youth empowering activities and youth led initiatives
  • Strong knowledge and experience working on existing social norms around adolescent reproductive health and experiences in behavior change activities.
  • Having valid two-wheeler license

Project: USAID Adolescent Reproductive Health

Position: Resource Person for Youth Mobilization

Vacancy: 2 (Districts of Madhesh Province: Rautahat and Bara/ Based in Municipality)

Workstation: Working Municipality

Duration: up to 1 year and possibility of extension depending on performance

Minimum Academic Qualification and working experience+2 in Health or Diploma in Nursing/ Health Science or Social Sciences with experience working with youth clubs, youth development, and public health with one year work experience working with local government at municipality.
Roles and responsibilities
  • Work closely with local implementing partners and municipalities to assess form and engage local youth groups at the municipal level
  • Responsible to provide technical assistance to existing and newly formed youth groups to register at the local level
  • Promote social behavior change (SBC) on ARH through youth engagement in the community
Specific Skills
  • Experience in providing guidance to local youth clubs and groups at the local level
  • Organize and deliver training, orientation for adolescent groups, youth club members on effective youth engagement strategies
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to youth groups and individuals to develop leadership and life skills
  • Advocate for policies and resources that support youth development and participation
  • Build relationships with local schools, community organizations and other relevant stakeholders to promote youth programs.
  • Organize campaign, community events that encourage youth participation and raise awareness of their contribution.
  • Knowledge of the health systems of Nepal including health governance.
  • Strong knowledge about existing social norms around adolescent reproductive health and experiences in behavior change activities
  • Competent in report writing and documentation
RemarksLocal resident or prior experience working in respective province/ district and familiar with the local language will be an advantage.
