Job Opportunity: Trainee Project Coordinator for TerraMrida Agroforestry Project

Location: Kathmandu and Khotang Districts, with occasional travel to Bhojpur District

Duration: 6 months (with potential for extension for another 6 months for an enhanced stipend of Rs 25.000 p.m.)

Stipend: Rs 15,000 per month

About the TerraMrida Agroforestry Project:

Join the pioneering TerraMrida Agroforestry Project, initiated by the Mount Everest Forest Botanicals Alliance (MEFBA), to support sustainable agroforestry practices and community nursery development in the beautiful mountain regions of Khotang and Bhojpur districts. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to climate resilience, sustainable livelihoods, and youth engagement in rural Nepal.

Position: Trainee Project Coordinator

Key Responsibilities:

Community Nursery Coordination:

  • Assist in establishing and managing community nurseries in various village locations within Khotang and Bhojpur districts.
  • Coordinate with local communities, farmers, and stakeholders to ensure smooth nursery operations.
  • Monitor and report on nursery activities, including seedling production, distribution, and maintenance.

Project Implementation:

  • Support the planning, execution, and monitoring of agroforestry projects.
  • Assist in the development of project plans, schedules, and budgets.
  • Coordinate with project teams to ensure timely and effective implementation of project activities.

Community Engagement:

  • Facilitate community meetings and workshops to promote agroforestry practices.
  • Engage with local youth and women's groups to encourage their participation in the project.
  • Provide training and technical support to community members on nursery management and agroforestry techniques.

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate records of project activities, including progress reports, financial documentation, and field data.
  • Prepare and submit regular reports to project supervisors and stakeholders.
  • Document success stories, challenges, and lessons learned for knowledge sharing and project improvement.

Field Visits:

  • Conduct regular field visits to monitor nursery and agroforestry project sites.
  • Provide on-site support and troubleshooting for project-related issues.
  • Ensure compliance with project standards and protocols during field activities.

Requirements:

  • Recent graduates or individuals with a background in agriculture, forestry, environmental science, rural development or related fields.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to travel and work in rural mountain communities.
  • Passion for sustainable development and community engagement.
  • Skills in GIS will be added advantage

Candidates with personal conveyance of motorbikes will be preferred.
