CDM-Nepal is a leading non-governmental development and humanitarian organisation of Province 5 of Nepal. Established in 2000 in Butwal, CDM-Nepal has worked in DRM, CCA, WASH, livelihood and GBV. CDM’s programmes have historically been targeted at underprivileged women and children. Origins of CDM-Nepal CDM-Nepal’s origin can be traced back to 1993, the year Rupandehi district experienced one of the devastating floods in its history. Having seen the havoc brought by the disaster, a group of local development professionals joined hands to informally set up “Save the Environment and Rural Development Institute (SERDI)”, which later became CDM-Nepal during official registration in 2000. 3.1.2 Organizing Facilitators' training on climate change and climate awareness sessions (Jalwayu Shikshya SATRA-(ReFLECT) with women/youth and teachers 

 

Background: 

CDM-Nepal is a leading non-governmental development and humanitarian organization of Lumbini Province, Nepal. Established in 2000 in Rupandehi, CDM-Nepal has worked in DRM, CCA, WASH, livelihood and GBV. CDM’s programs have historically been targeted to marginalized women, children and communities. 

Currently CDM Nepal has been implementing Community Resilience Program Phase III in partnership with MISEREOR/KZE and DKA and Local Governments of Rupandehi and Nawalparasi district from March 2023 aiming to mainstreaming Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) in disaster-prone areas and areas affected by climate change contributes towards minimizing poverty and vulnerability of women, children and socially excluded families.  CDM Nepal invites consultancy service for Organizing Facilitators' training on climate change and climate awareness sessions (Jalwayu Shikshya SATRA) with women youth and teachers (ReFLECT) including preparation of facilitators’ book. from registered consultant/firm.

 

Background for Consultancy:

Climate Change Adoption and Climate Advocacy is the integral part of capacity enhancement of CDM/KEZ’s Community Resilience Programme. It intends community level actors such as local teachers, women and Climate Champions who play important role for the advocacy initiatives to local government and at community level. It brings general understanding among the facilitators and help to increase the public awareness on the effects of climate change in common lives and mitigation measures for resilience. 

Based on this, CDM Nepal intends to organize Facilitators’ training (TOT) on Climate Change and Climate Awareness Session with women, youth and teachers through ReFLECT approach including preparation of Facilitators’ book for ReFLECT class.

This training will mainly focus on strengthening the capacity of facilitators selected from implementing Palikas of Nawalparasi and Rupandehi district that include women, teachers and youths. There will be 75 participants: Women, youth and teachers. 

Based on this, CDM Nepal is seeking qualified and experienced consultant to give four days Facilitators’’ Training (TOT) on Climate Change and Climate Awareness Session with women, youth and teachers through ReFLECT approach and preparation of facilitators book for ReFLECT class.  The training should be practical, application of learning and interactive.

 

Objectives of the Consultancy: 

       Based on available REFLECT Facilitators Guidebook, prepare 10 thematic sessions followed by 10 practical sessions, field work, and project work 

       To train REFLECT facilitators and capacitate them to organize ReFLECT sessions in schools and or communities

       To build experiential learnings and facilitate ReFLECT facilitators to develop Community Action Plans for advocacy with local decision makers (Mayor/Chairperson). 

 

Training Location:

The training is to be delivered in 4 locations accessible for all participants.

 

Approach and methodologies:

A participatory approach will be applied throughout the course and methodologies such as - group discussion, demonstration, practical exercises, brainstorming, and interactive lecturing will be used.

       Question and Answers with participants to enhance learning.

       Devide each theme in 2 components: one class room teaching/learning/facilitation and 2nd field/project work/role play/drama/group work and story telling

       Start each session with one to two minutes silent sitting 

       Share Action Plan (CAP) template to the participants for its implementation 

·       Submit final report and documentation of sessions (key issues, challenges, recommendations).

Payment schedule:

  • 100% payment will be done upon the submission of the final report (It should include all the documents and materials related to training). It will be done within the one week of report submission.

 

Qualifications/requirements of consultant:

  • At least 5 years of experience in DRR and CCA; and participation in the development and humanitarian sector with experience working with local communities in different program/projects at the community level.

  • Experience in conducting CCA, DRR/M and Resilience Training with I/NGOs is considered a plus 

  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and people management skills.

  • Master’s degree in Social Science, Environment Science, or any other relevant disciplines.

Selection Criteria:

  1. Selection will be based on the training content, its ingenuity, practical application, and the competence of the trainers/facilitators.

  2. A technical proposal with a detailed response to the TORs, with a specific focus on the scope of work, and methodology to be used. A detailed training course content and methods to be included. (40 points)

  3. CVs of the team and their roles (15 points)

  4. The financial proposal should include a detailed budget proposal breakdown of what cost covers inclusive of relevant taxes where applicable. (30 points)

  5. VAT/ PAN Registration Documents, Latest Tax Clearance Document and tax exemption document if any.

  6. Evidence of similar reports and References from the organization(s) for whom that work was contracted. (15 points)
