Background

Climate change is one of the most pressing challenges facing Nepal, disproportionately impacting marginalized communities, women, and young people. In response, YUWA Nepal, in collaboration with Plan International Nepal, under the Y-SPARCK initiative1, is launching a digital awareness campaign to amplify conversations on climate change, its consequences, and the urgent need for action.

1Y-SPARCK (Youth - Strengthening Policy, Advocacy, Research, Campaign, and Knowledge) is a collaborative project with Plan International Nepal focusing on SRHR, climate change, and policy coherence.

This campaign aims to engage and mobilize young people by harnessing the creativity and influence of social media influences. We seek to collaborate with three influencers (preferably with a minimum of 20K+ subscribers on YouTube) to create and share high-quality, well-researched, and compelling video content on climate change and gender-climate justice. The content should inform and inspire public discourse and advocacy.

Key thematic areas may include, but are not limited to:

  • Climate justice and gender equality – exploring the intersection of climate change and gendered vulnerabilities.
  • Youth leadership in climate action – highlighting how young people can drive climate solutions.
  • Intersectoral impacts of climate change – such as its role in rising child marriage rates, sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), and displacement due to climate change induced disasters.

Scope of Work

Influencers will be responsible for:

1. Content Creation and Development:

  • Develop a well-researched and engaging video (5-10 minutes) on climate change and its impact in Nepal.
  • Incorporate expert opinions, personal narratives, or case studies to make the content compelling.
  • Work with YUWA Nepal to finalize the video concept and script before production.

2. Video Creation & Posting:

  • Produce a high-quality YouTube video based on the agreed concept.
  • Ensure the content is visually engaging, well-edited, and includes relevant facts, statistics, and storytelling.
  • Post the finalized video by end of April 2025 with campaign-specific hashtags and descriptions (will be shared later).

3. Audience Engagement & Impact Reporting:

  • Engage with the audience through comments, Q&A, or additional discussions, where needed.
  • Share video snippets on other social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok) for wider reach and include YUWA/PLAN as collaborators.
  • Submit an engagement report by end of May, including views, shares, comments, and audience feedback.

Deliverables

  • One well-researched YouTube video (5-10 minutes) on climate change and its impacts in Nepal.
  • Social media promotion (cross-posting on Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook).
  • Engagement tracking & impact report (analytics and audience interaction details).

Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum 20k+ subscribers on social media, preferably on YouTube with high engagement.
  • Strong storytelling and video production skills with gender respective languages, photos and video clips.
  • Knowledge or experience in environmental issues, climate activism, or related content along with study on local/ national trends.
  • Ability to create fact-checked, high-quality, and visually appealing videos.

Timeline and Commitment

  • Proposal Submission Deadline: 5th April 2025
  • Final Selection of Influencers: 10th April 2025
  • Video Concept & Script Finalization: 20th April 2025
  • Video Posting Deadline: 30th April 2025
  • Engagement Report Submission: By May 2025

Budget and Payment

Payment will be processed after successful video posting (50%) and submission of the engagement report (50%).
