Since then, RDC is heavily engaged in humanitarian assistance, community development, conservation of natural resources, and environmental protection mainly in the Terai region of Nepal through the dozens of humanitarian and long-term development projects reaching out to the children, adolescent, youth, women, landless, urban poor, and people living with disabilities, HIV & AIDS, conflict and disaster survivors from the poor families of historically marginalized Dalits, Muslims, Madheshi and Indigenous communities and other underprivileged groups.

1. Overview

Rural Development Centre (RDC) Nepal is a non-governmental, non-political, and non-profit making organization established in May 2002 with its headquarters in Rautahat District of Nepal. Since then, RDC has been heavily engaged in humanitarian assistance, community development, conservation of natural resources, and environmental protection mainly in the Terai region of Nepal through the dozens of humanitarian and long-term development projects reaching out to the children, adolescent boys, and girls, youth, women, land poor, urban poor,  and people living with disabilities, HIV & AIDS, conflict and disaster survivors from most poor, historically marginalized communities such as Dalits and Muslims, Indigenous communities and other underprivileged groups.

2. Background

Rural Development Center ( RDC Nepal) Rautahat is implementing a protection-related project in the Rautahat district with the support of Islamic Relief Nepal, emphasizing interventions in protection and livelihoods. This project "Accelerating Actions to Reduce Gender-Based Violence (GARVA)," was initiated in June 2023 and is implemented in the Rajpur and Chandrapur municipalities of Rautahat district. This project aims to reduce Gender Based Violence (GBV) and enhance the well-being of 34,155 women, men, girls, and boys in the project's target municipalities. This goal will be achieved through several key strategies, including improving the economic empowerment of GBV survivors or at-risk women and girls, enhancing the capacity of service providers and local bodies, and raising awareness about GBV prevention and available services.

3. Training objective: The objective of RUPANTARAN re-fresher training for community facilitators is to enhance their skills and knowledge to effectively support community development initiatives. The training objectives are:

  • Equip community facilitators with the necessary tools, techniques, and confidence to drive positive change within their communities.
  • Strengthen the capacity of facilitators to identify community needs, design and implement appropriate interventions, and manage resources efficiently.
  • Training must cover the following module from RUPANTARAN manual:
    1. Module 2- आत्म जागरण 
    2. Module 5- किशोरावस्था  
    3. Module 6- रामो बानि 
    4. Module 8- प्राथमिक उपचार  
    5. Module 11- खर्च र बचत  
    6. Module 12- जीविकोपार्जनका बिकल्पहरु   
    7. Module 13- यौन तथा प्रजनन स्वास्थ्य   
    8. Module 14- लैंगिकतामा आधारित हिँसा  

4. Scope of Services and Tasks and Activities to be completed

The overall scope of this assignment is to hire a Trainer (Facilitator) to facilitate 3-day refresher training for the community facilitator on RUPANTARAN.

Activities will include, but may not be limited to the following:

  • Preparation of the session schedule and submit the training schedule plan to RDC Nepal.
  • Facilitate the training program as lead facilitator.
  • Responsible for collection and preparation of training materials required for the training.
  • Pre and post-training evaluation
  • Submit the training report, PPT, or any other training materials used during training to RDC Nepal within 7 days after completion of training.
  • The training method will include but not be limited to interactive, participatory, group division, role play, video/audio presentation and PPT method, simulations, and games.

5. Expected Deliverables

By the end of the training, the expected deliverables are :

  • Provide a brief training plan (training schedule), and pre-test and post-test questionnaires, and compare the results to demonstrate the participants' increased skill levels.
  • Prepare training reports in English, including a compilation of relevant documents.
  • Understanding of Community facilitators on the RUPANTARAN manual will be increased.

6. Reporting Line

The consultant will report to GARVA, RDC Nepal’s Project Coordinator.

7. Time Frame

The estimated input of the consultant is 4 days (3 days training and 1 day for session plan and report writing). The assignment is expected to start on 4 August 2024 and be finalized by no later than 10 August 2024.

8. Required Qualifications

  • Experience and expertise in facilitating GBV training.
  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree.
  • At least 3 years of facilitation experience in the area of RUPANTARAN training.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills.

9. Terms of Payment

  • 100% upon completion of training and submission of final report.
