CDM-Nepal is a leading non-governmental development and humanitarian organisation of Province 5 of Nepal. Established in 2000 in Butwal, CDM-Nepal has worked in DRM, CCA, WASH, livelihood and GBV. CDM’s programmes have historically been targeted at underprivileged women and children. Origins of CDM-Nepal CDM-Nepal’s origin can be traced back to 1993, the year Rupandehi district experienced one of the devastating floods in its history. Having seen the havoc brought by the disaster, a group of local development professionals joined hands to informally set up “Save the Environment and Rural Development Institute (SERDI)”, which later became CDM-Nepal during official registration in 2000. Mission Our mission is to improve the lives of individuals and families in the poorest, vulnerable, socially excluded and marginalised communities of Nepal. Background:

CDM-Nepal is a national non-governmental development and humanitarian organization having Head Quarter in Butwal, Lumbini Province, Nepal. Established in 2000 in Rupandehi, CDM-Nepal has worked in disaster risk reduction, climate action, water sanitation and hygiene promotion, livelihoods and gender equity and social inclusion including gender-based violence. CDM’s target beneficiaries include marginalized women, children, youth and vulnerable communities. CDM worked in Rupandehi, Nawalparasi, Kapilvastu, Arghakhachi, Gulmi, Palpa, Okhaldhunga, Doti, Dadeldhura, Baitadi, Kathmandu and Achham Districts.

CDM-Nepal was registered with the District Administration Office of Rupandehi in 16 May 2000 with registration number 466-057/058. It is affiliated with the Social Welfare Council of Nepal Government in 2000 with registration number 11639/057. Since its establishment, it has become a member of NGO Federation Nepal, National Disaster Preparedness Network (DP-Net) Nepal since 2008 and a founding member of National Network of Community Disaster and Climate Risk Management Committee (NCDMC). District Disaster Management Committee (DDMC) of Rupandehi district has selected CDM-Nepal as the current District Lead Support Agency (DLSA) of Rupandehi district. Since 2017, CDM-Nepal has been providing technical and other support to Lumbini Provincial Government as Province Lead Support Agency (PLSA).

 

 

Objective of the Consultancy:

The overall objective of the training is to enhance the leadership, communication, and social mobilization skills of CDM Nepal staff. The training will focus on:

      Strengthening leadership capacities to foster teamwork, motivation, and effective decision-making.

      Building social mobilization skills to engage and empower local communities.

      Providing tools and strategies for better coordination with local governments and other stakeholders.

      Developing participatory approaches and techniques for community-level advocacy and awareness programs.

 

Target Participants:

The training will target 15 CDM Nepal staff and board members working in program management, field coordination, and community engagement roles.

 

Key deliverables:

              Final report, including executive summary, in English, no later than 7 days after completion of training.

              The report must highlight 3 days training activities and sharing of training content materials.

              The CDM project team will review the submitted training content and finalized a week before training starts.

 

Timeframe/schedule:

The proposed date of training: 12 -14 November, 2024. 

The trainers must cover following topics.

                How to develop leadership skill, Team buildings, self-awareness for effective leadership, personality assessment and leadership reflection, Leadership communication skill

                Principle and strategies of social mobilization, stakeholder mapping and engagement, tools and methods for assessing community needs, technique of inclusive decision making

                Coordination and advocacy tools for influencing policy makers 

                Tools for effective engagement and games for children and youths

 

 

Expertise and Qualifications of the Resource Person:

The Resource Person is required to have the following expertise and qualifications:

      At least Bachelor degree, most preferred Master degree in Social science, Journalism, Development studies or equivalent degree in relevant field.

      Proven knowledge and experience on Leadership and social mobilization.

      A minimum of 5 years of experience in leadership development, capacity building, and social mobilization in the development sector.

      Proven experience in facilitating trainings for NGOs, INGOs, or community-based organizations.

      Resource person must have prior work experiences with or working for similar activities.

      Resource person must have good command in both writing and speaking in English and Nepali languages. 

      Excellent communication and facilitation skills.

 

Technical and financial offer: 

Applicants must provide technical and financial offers, including:

      Technical offer including a brief training schedule. The technical offer cannot exceed 3 pages and must comply with the Terms of Reference.

      Detailed work plan/timetable 

      Financial offer detailing the proposed budget for the training (As per Annex 1).

      Legal documents (Education, CV, Citizenship, PAN registration card for individual). 

Note: The training location will be decided later. The stationary items will be managed by CDM Nepal.

Reporting:

The resource person will work in constant consultation with the Program Manager of CDM Nepal throughout the training period.



Payment Schedule:

100% of the agreed payment will be made upon submission of the final report and training materials.

Deadline for submission: 

Resource person must submit their technical and financial proposal, legal documents (registration & tax clearance in case of consulting firm and PAN/VAT registration card for individual) and CVs of key personnel before 17:00 hours (COB) dated 10 November 2024. The proposal should be submitted to info@cdmnepal.org with the subject line: "Leadership and Social Mobilization Training Consultancy."
