1. Background
Heifer Project International Nepal (HPIN) is a non-profit and humanitarian organization dedicated to work with communities to end hunger and poverty and care for the earth. It has been supporting more than 250 women led enterprising cooperatives in different aspects of agribusiness including production, processing, and marketing. Heifer has been implementing the Innovations in Agro-Livestock Value Chain (IALVC) project with the aim of increasing the sustainable income of smallholder farmers. The agriculture value chain component of this project has primarily focus on improving supply chain efficiency, establishing market linkages, and enhancing the value addition of target value chains through supporting the producer cooperatives in establishing and upgrading vegetable, spice and jaggery processing centers in partnerships with governments, civil society organizations, and private sectors.
The project has supported cooperatives to establish vegetable processing center at Tansen Municipality, Palpa, ginger processing center at Nisdi Rural Municipality, Palpa and Turmeric processing center at Bharatpur Metropolitan City, Chitwan and Jaggery processing center at Gulmi. These cooperatives are involved in collection of raw materials from different farmers, processed them at their processing center and sells to various buyers. They haven’t been able to operate at their full potential due to insufficient business, marketing and sales skills and ideas. Hence, we are planning to organize the marketing and sales skill training to increase the collection and sales of targeted commodities.
2. Objectives
- To improve the marketing and sales skills of the co-operative leaders.
- To increase the business volume of the co-operative.
- To enhance the cooperating skills, knowledge and attitude of business operation and management.
3. Scope of the work
The scope of the work will as be following:
- Training need assessment in consultation with Heifer team and cooperative representatives.
- Prepare training schedule and training material. The session plan should include the business growth strategies, segmentation, targeting and positioning, costumer behavior, marketing strategies, sales cycle, negotiation skills, sales script, closing, objection handling, story creation etc
- Facilitate the 3 days interactive and engaging training
4. Target Audience
The targeted audience will be co-operatives board member, market management committee, processing center staff and projects staff. Majority of the participant will be women who just have basic literacy level.
5. Training Methodology
The training methodologies should be games, roleplay, case study sharing, group work, group discussion, lecture and presentation etc.
6. Deliverables
The deliverable will be as of following
- Session plan, schedule and resource materials of 3 days marketing and sales training.
- Training facilitation for the period of 3 days.
- The training completion report.
7. Timeline
The training will be of 8 hours per day for 3 days (20 January 2025-22 January 2025) which will be organized at Chitwan.
8. Budget and payment
The facilitator will be paid for 4 days (3 days training facilitation + 0.5 days for preparation and 0.5 days for report writing). The project shall cover the food and accommodation of the consultant at the training venue however travel cost should be covered by the consultant. The payment will be provided after receiving the training completion report.
9. Qualification and experiences
The training facilitator should have the following qualifications and experience:
- Minimum 3 years working experience in agriculture and proven history of facilitating similar training.
- At least of Bachelor's degree in business administration, agriculture or any relevant discipline.

- CV of facilitator highlighting the relevant training facilitation.
- A brief technical proposal outlining training content and methodology.
- Financial quote including facilitation fee and travel expenses.
- Copy of PAN/VAT
- Copy of citizenship certificate
Applications received with incomplete documents and after the due date will be disqualified. HPIN reserves all the rights to reject any or all applications without providing any reasons
