Handicap International Federation (HI) is an independent and impartial aid organization, created in 1982, working across 63 countries. HI works alongside the vulnerable populations, whatever the context, taking action to respond to their essential needs, improve their living conditions and promote respect for their dignity and fundamental rights. Present in Nepal since 2000, HI works through a network of local partner organizations in the area of health and physical rehabilitation, inclusive education and resilience including emergency response to improve the living conditions and involvement of the most vulnerable populations in Nepal.
The Task Order 53 under Disability Inclusive Development (DID) Program (funded by FCDO) is one of the ongoing projects In Nepal. The project aims to promote equitable access to quality education and demonstrate learning achievements in basic level grades for girls and boys with disabilities including those with complex disabilities as well as other children with learning support needs. This project has been developed in consideration of the learning from ongoing inclusive education projects of HI and consortium partners with engaging government stakeholders.
HI Nepal invites application for the following position for the above-mentioned project:
1. Technical Officer, Inclusive Education - 1 position
Terms & Conditions: Fixed-Term contract
Location: Chitwan District
Summary of Key Responsibilities:
- Support to local government, schools and teachers in implementation of Universal Design for Learning (UDL)
- Facilitate and take lead to carry out action research and knowledge management including success stories and documentation
- Provide technical support to implementing partners and selected schools on inclusive education approaches and strategies focusing on children with disability
- Contribute to project planning and implementation in line with the existing frameworks
- Contribute to project monitoring, specifically activity progress indicators and the expected outcomes
- Ensure that the appropriate data collection and management tools are in place and are used correctly on the project in line with global standards
- Contribute in external project communication
Qualification and Skills Required:
- At least Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Social Sciences or related field
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in development projects specially with Education thematic sector
- Experience in disability and inclusion exposure is added advantage
- Experience of mentoring staff and local organization and transferring skills and knowledge.
- Report writing and documentation skills
- Knowledge of education system and disability in Nepal
- Proficient in planning, design and facilitation of capacity building training
