Job description for System Administrator
dgMarket was created as a part of Development Gateway(DG) in 2001 at the initiative of World Bank. It was meant to improve the reach, transparency, and effectiveness of international procurement in economic development around the world. The objective was to allow a wider distribution of development opportunities to increase the population of potential bidders and extend it to the developing world. This offering was in line with Development Gateway’s public service mission as a non-profit organization.
The position is required for e-GP system in Nepal. e-GP system is a custom built web based application that encompasses the end to end procurement lifecycle. Users and transaction & volume of procurement projects is increasing day by day as more and more public entities/bidders are using this system. Considering complexity and nature of application, it requires a dedicated technical expert team to manage application and all infrastructure setup of e-GP system.
Since e-GP system is a high critical business application and service of the e-GP should be available 24*7 hours on an uninterrupted basis, so there is a need of comprehensive support with proper service level agreement (SLA) to promptly debug and resolve the issue reported in real time basis, enhance the features and functionalities of the system to improve overall system performance.
Skills Required
The System Administrator shall have Master’s degree in IT related field. S/he shall have preferably 4+ years of experience in system administration including data centre infrastructure setup, configuration, network security, and support and s/he must have a strong grasp of server security (e.g. firewalls and intrusion detection systems). S/he should have Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) certification.
The System Administrator shall have following roles:
- Ensure uninterruptible availability of e-GP system and infrastructure
- Setup security policies for server and network devices.
- Create a backup and recovery policy of all servers
- Regular monitoring, analysis of server performance, logs and identifying potential issues with servers and equipment used for e-GP
- Responsible for performance tuning of system/network
- Fix any issues related to datacenter infrastructure
- Assist the Technical Lead in preparation of deliverables
- Assist the team members to prepare test scripts, test cases and conduct functional testing
- Apply operating system updates, patches, and configuration changes.
- Ensure security of infrastructure used for e-GP
- Setup, configure and commission of any new equipment/servers procured for the e-GP system
- Support installation and operation of power and backup
- Responsible for other activities necessary for the smooth operation and improvement of eGP system as assigned by PPMO
