Children-Women in Social Service and Human Rights (CWISH), a non-profit civil society organization established in 1993 with an aim to ensure social justice, protection and promotion of human rights especially the rights of children and youths, invites applications for the post: Social Mobilizer from interested and eligible candidates (Nepali citizens only) who are reliable, accountable, and have ability to deliver results with the highest level of integrity.

With the aim to contribute CWISH goal, the vacancy is called for ‘Power Girls’ project in two Rural Municipalities of Sindhupalchowk funded by Interpedia, Finland. The project aims to address gender inequality and discrimination through improving child rights, especially of vulnerable girls, whose rights are often undermined through discriminatory practices leading to school dropouts, child marriage and trafficking; and achieve the outcome that the girls are empowered to be active advocates for their rights, with their agenda supported by the communities and authorities.

Job Summary:

Social mobilizer is responsible for implementation of the activities in the communities and regularly reporting the progress/status; coordinating and networking with stakeholders at local levels; supporting the project team for organizing events; participating in semi/annual review and planning meetings. This position reports to District Project Officer.

Key qualification and competencies

  • At least Intermediate in any field of studies or relevant area
  • Preference for knowledge on Child Rights, child protection, child friendly local governance
  • Need to have good interpersonal skills such as excellent communication, empathy, committed to work with children and vulnerable families.
  • Ability to work independently, collaboratively and effectively as a part of team and capacity to collaborate with line agencies including municipalities.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • To work together with community / Ward / RM and CBOs stakeholders, structures in schools (GAG/CC/SMC/PTA) and mobilization of these mechanism/structures
  • To ensure regular empowerment and mobilization of Girls' Advocacy Group in assigned schools
  • To conduct REFLECT sessions with school students and school-drop out girls focusing on Child Rights, Child trafficking and related issues
  • To facilitate in providing education, skill training, seed money, psychosocial and/or legal support to vulnerable girls
  • To support in conducting various surveys at community level
  • To maintain documentation of receipt notes, meeting minutes, letters and reports recording the relevant actions and activities in the field-level
  • To support in the documentation of reports, case stories, success stories, photos and videos related to the project and submit to the District Project Officer
  • To participate in the planning/review meetings and present opportunities, challenges and lessons learned during the project
  • To involve in data collection required for the project
  • To prepare activity reports, individual plan/report and documentation of progress, and case stories
  • To support monitoring and follow up of the programs/services along with adequate documentation and communication with relevant section and stakeholders
  • Provide support to vulnerable families for empowerment activities.

  • Support program monitoring and follow-up, as well as administrative and financial management tasks at the district level.
