Introduction:
Support the Unit Security Officer (USO), Regimental Sergeant Major (RSM) and the Duty Officer (DO) in day-to-day maintenance of physical security of BGN personnel, dependents and property in order to secure the BGN compound from external threats and protect the integrity of BGN barracks and outlying sites.

This position is advertised at 40 hours per week in shift system.
Job description:
- Effective access control in and out of BGN. Deny and report unauthorised attempt; access by intruders. Conduct personnel and vehicles search, as necessary.
- Be prepared to work in shifts and act as standby for other guards as required.
- Conduct patrols of camp perimeter and highlight any security shortfalls to the USO/RSM.
- Be able to operate the CCTV system and identify any potential security risks.
- Conduct personnel and vehicle search where required as dictated by the threat/response levels.
- Issues temporary pass for visitors/non-BGN personnel and provide escort for visitors where required.
- Provide Fire Piquet duty in the event of fire. Check any source of potential fire or fire hazards and raise the alarm in the event of fire. Try to extinguish the fire only if safe to do so.
- Be prepared to generate a Quick Reaction Force (QRF) in order to deal with security related incidents or crisis.
- Be able to provide deterrent through regular perimeter checks and report any suspicious items/activities to the Guard Commander.
- Attend annual refresher Guard Training.
- Be able to identify any potential fire hazards and raise alarm where required. QRF will assist in fighting the fire.
- Provide escorts for VIP BGN visitors.
- Control of BGN building key register.
- Read, understand and be able to conduct security tasks as mentioned in the Orders for BGN security guard force.
- Announcement of major incidents and Op CALLOUT using the tannoy as per the BGN disaster contingency plan.
- Ensure that all offices/buildings are secured (doors and windows locked, lights and taps are switched off) and that there are no suspicious objects within the camp.

- To follow all the Health & Safety rules while performing duty.
- To conduct personnel and vehicle searches and issue entry passes.
- To provide perimeter fence security by patrolling day or night and report any suspicious activities.
- To ensure all offices/buildings are secured and report any defects to Line Manager.

You will be an individual with energy, enthusiasm and experience who will relish the opportunity of working in BGN and thrive in a challenging environment. Security Guard is to follow the instruction given by the Line Manager adhere to Job Description for guidance and contribute diligently towards the team. Candidate should be able to work well in a team understanding the duty. You will have excellent written/ spoken English and Nepali language skills. Proven security guard experience and training is essential for this role to deliver the job responsibility effectively and efficiently with good sense of customer service. 3 years' experience with SLC/SEE education is preferred.

Security:
Successful candidates must meet the security requirements before they can be appointed. The level of security needed is a Govt of Nepal Police Report for employment in Nepal.
Selection process details:
Candidates will be required to provide work related details to include job history; qualification details and previous skills and experience using the BGN Application Form ONLY. NO CV’s to be attached.

Selection process:
There will be an assessment on language (English/Nepali) and physical test to assess the suitability of the candidates for the role. Candidates with High School degree (SLC minimum) and Security Qualification and Training are preferable. Having sound IT knowledge would be an advantage.
Candidates meeting the standard and job requirement will only be sifted for Written and Practical Test, followed by interview selection on MERIT basis.
Interviews for candidates successful at Sift will take place by the first week of November 2023.
