CAPN is a national civil society organization with a mission to reduce and eradicate gender-discriminatory citizenship laws in Nepal. It provides support to persons affected by discriminatory citizenship laws and works to achieve legal and social reformation for equal citizenship laws and rights in the country. In CAPN, the advocacy to address discriminatory citizenship laws is led by affected persons with the objective of achieving increased sensitivity and awareness in society on the issue.

Job 1 - Program Intern:

Number of Positions: 1

Term: 6 months

Type of Internship: Full time/ On-site

Location: Sanepa, Lalitpur

Stipend: NPR 10,000

Role Overview:

CAPN is seeking motivated and dynamic individuals to join our team as Program Interns. This will serve as an opportunity for individuals passionate about social justice, human rights, and gender equality to gain practical experience in program management and advocacy work. Additionally, the candidate should exhibit empathy and presence of mind, enabling them to manage sensitive and emotional situations involving individuals affected by citizenship issues or those who are stateless. 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the planning, coordination, and implementation of CAPN Nepal’s programs and activities.  

  • Support the development and dissemination of program materials, including reports, presentations, and training manuals.  

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of program activities and outcomes.  

  • Assist in organizing and facilitating community meetings, workshops, and training sessions.  

  • Engage with community members and stakeholders to gather feedback and input on program initiatives.  

  • Support the management of CAPN Nepal’s social media platforms and website, including content creation and updates.  

  • Assist in the preparation and dissemination of newsletters, press releases, and other communication materials.  

  • Provide administrative support to the program and admin team, including scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, and taking minutes.  

  • Assist with logistical arrangements for events, workshops, and training sessions.  

  • Meet deadlines and comply with work plans made in collaboration with the Program Officer. 

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a program in law, social science or development studies  

  • Strong interest in human rights, gender equality, and social justice issues.  

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Nepali.  

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).  

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.  

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.  

  • Prior experience in a similar role or in a non-profit organization.

Job 2 - Finance Intern

Number of positions: 1

Term: 6 months

Type of Internship: Full time/One-site

Location: Sanepa, Lalitpur

Role Overview:

CAPN is seeking motivated and dynamic individuals to join our team as Finance Intern. The intern will support managing the organization's basic financial functions and gain practical experience in financial management in the development sector. The candidate should exhibit empathy and presence of mind, enabling them to manage sensitive and emotional situations involving individuals affected by citizenship issues or those who are stateless.

Roles and Responsibilities:

The Intern’s primary duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following: 

  • Support record-keeping of financial transactions using the organization's software and maintaining physical vouchers for various projects. 

  • Assist in financial reporting to various donors and ensure statutory compliance and related documentation. 

  • Contribute to the preparation of financial statements and support in internal, statutory, and donor/project audits and reviews. 

  • Perform administrative tasks related to the finance department and maintain assets register of various project and organizational assets. 

  • Assist in monthly payroll calculations, bank reconciliation and other account reconciliations. 

  • Manage petty cash of the organization as and when needed. 

  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal policies. 

  • Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor. 

  • Meet deadlines and comply with work plans made in collaboration with the Finance and Admin Officer. 

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated in Bachelors’ in Business Administration, Bachelors in Business Studies or similar degree. 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).  

  • Prior experience in a similar role or in a non-profit organization  

  • Experience in working with citizenship affected people will be given preference. 

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.  

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Nepali.
