SAHAMATI(An Institution Dedicated For Community Plus Humane Development) SAHAMATI is a non-governmental, non-political, non-profit making, member-based social development organization established in 2001/11/12 (kartik 27, 2058) by a group of professionals and development workers with long experience in community development. This organization has been registered as an NGO under the organization registration act of Nepal. Global problems like climate change, poverty, social discrimination and migration influence Nepal's development process, demanding diversified answers. Underprivileged groups are often excluded while designing development program, unfortunate for them. SAHAMATI aims to make a change by addressing the huge challenges of the 21st century with a community-centered approach, focusing on social justice and social transformation, human rights development and self-help promotion. SAHAMATI has built a large network composed of diverse social groups, national and international organizations and like-minded institutions and have been launching various kinds of community-centered programs on collaboration. A range of internal programs have been developed and implemented independently through SAHAMATI under Theme 2 (Learning and Innovation) are coordinated through our own resources. Consultancy Services for engineering Scheme

WWF Nepal in collaboration with SAHAMATI is implementing the project “Nature Based Solutions-The Triple Benefit Program”. WWF Denmark funds the project under the aegis of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Denmark (DANIDA).

The project aims for a climate resilient Lower Narayani River Basin with improved ecosystem services that supports community well-being and thriving biodiversity. The project will support local communities to implement Nature-based Solutions (NbS) to protect, restore and manage freshwater and forest ecosystems and to diversify their livelihoods so that their dependency on natural resources will reduced. The project will also support duty bearers to internalize the impacts of unsustainable natural resource use and importance of NbS.

The project will be implemented within the Gindri and Khageri watersheds of the Lower Narayani River Basin. The project interventions in these watersheds have been prioritized based on the societal challenges identified during stakeholder consultations. The major societal challenges identified are inadequate water availability, riverbank cutting, forest fires, open grazing, limited livelihood opportunities and lack of representation and participation of marginalized groups.

Purpose:

The purpose of these services is to develop Nature-based Solutions as well as green skills and capacities using nature-based solutions (e.g., bioengineering works, bio-dykes, conservation ponds, wetland and spring water resources protection, irrigation canal and other indigenous local technologies, etc.).

Timeframe and estimated level of effort:

The services are required indicatively from 15 March 2025 to 30 June 2025. SAHAMATI estimates a level of effort of approx. 15 workdays according to the scheme within one month.

Qualifications of consultant/firm:

  • A Bachelor's/Master's high level of degree in civil engineering/ engineering geology/ environmental engineering or relevant academic field with bioengineering.
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in planning and designing the projects.
  • Preference given to experience in technologies for bioengineering, bio-dykes, wetlands, conservation ponds and spring water sources protection.
  • Familiarity with Auto CAD, structural design and bioengineering technology.
  • Good command of spoken and written English and Nepali.
  • Flexibility, honesty and transparency.

Selection Criteria

Procurement committee of SAHAMATI will assess applications based on the following general criteria:

  • Relevance of experience
  • Quoted Price

  • CV of the proposed human resource person (Engineer) with their Nepal Engineering Council Certificate.
  • Technical and Financial proposal
  • Tax Clearance Certificate of financial year 2080/81
  • PAN registration Certificate
  • Company registration Certificate
  • Experience certificate related with above mentioned project (if any)

Applicants are required to submit their sealed quotation before 27th of February 2025 at SAHAMATI Centre Office, Gaindakot Municipality-5, Nawalparasi East.

Any proposals received after the deadline date will not be considered for evaluation. The organization reserves the right to reject any or all bids at any time.
