Subject for RFQ: Service Provider for Documentation of Migration, Environment and Climate Change Real Life Stories
IOM Nepal is implementing the project “Nepal: Promoting a Human Security and Gender Equality-Based Approach to Migration and Adaptation to Climate Change” since October 2023. The project aims to address the intricate interplay of migration, environment, and climate change in Nepal by promoting human security and gender-responsive strategies. In alignment with Nepal's national policies and international frameworks, the project seeks to create a more secure and resilient environment for individuals impacted by climate-induced migration. Ultimately, the project envisions a Nepal where people can migrate orderly, safely, regularly and responsibly. The project has recently completed research on human security centered and gender-responsive migration, environment and climate change in Nepal. Through this project, IOM plans to further the understanding on migration, environment and climate change (MECC) nexus by capturing the cases of people throughout Nepal.
The objective of the assignment is to develop:
- Identify 10 real MECC nexus stories of people by visiting 7 local governments across Nepal from east to west.
- Develop a compilation of the MECC nexus stories in English and Nepali languages complying with IOM standards and including appropriate sketches.
Target Audience: Government stakeholders, communities, development partners and academia working on relevant issues.
The story book will be developed under the supervision of the Project Manager, and in close coordination with project staff, partners and service providers.
The real-life stories will capture the following elements:
- MECC nexus, human security and gender
- Safe, orderly and regular migration
- Cross cutting issues of human security and gender equality and social inclusion (GESI)
- Challenges of trapped and immobile populations and solutions for people to stay
- Solutions for people on the move, solutions for people to stay, and solutions for people to move
The service provider will explore at least 7 local governments in the east, central and western provinces of the country (including project provinces- Karnali and Sudurpashchim) to showcase compelling examples of the MECC issues mentioned above and promote the recommendations of the IOM research reports.
