About the Project

To combat the rise of misinformation and disinformation, YI-Lab has developed an e-learning platform www.shikshya.org for the course "Understanding Misinformation and Disinformation". This comprehensive course consists of four modules, addressing Nepal's evolving media landscape, techniques for identifying false information, differential impacts of misinformation (focus on marginalized communities), and existing legal and regulatory approaches.

While the course is being implemented through provincial workshops across Nepal, there is a need to localize and initiate discussions at the local level. In this context, the project SACHI adopts an educational approach bringing 30 participants from seven provinces in a four-day bootcamp to empower journalists, social media influencers, and content creators including youth, women, marginalized groups, underrepresented populations, vulnerable communities, and LGBTIQ communities. The project “SACHI” will provide a platform for meaningful localized discussions leading to practical solutions for identifying and countering misinformation and disinformation. The real-world perspectives and identified localized solutions will be reinforced in the developed course.
