About the project

The “Inoculating the Nepali Public and the Press Against Mis/Disinformation" Initiative, supported by the U.S. Embassy in Nepal and implemented by the Youth Innovation Lab, aims to strengthen media professionals and the public’s ability to combat the spread of mis/disinformation on critical issues such as disasters, health crises, foreign assistance, marginalized populations, climate change, and elections. The program includes a comprehensive bootcamp for 45 participants (content creators, journalists, and media professionals) from all corners of the country, with a focus on producing accurate, fact-based journalism and media content.

In addition to the bootcamp, the initiative will engage content creators to develop educational materials, including six explainer videos and seven vox pop style or on-the-spot interview videos from different provinces, each addressing one of the key issues. These materials will help raise awareness of local mis/disinformation trends and empower the public to make informed decisions. The program's goal is to build resilience within Nepal’s media ecosystem by equipping journalists and content creators with the skills and knowledge needed to counter mis/disinformation, ultimately encouraging a well-informed society capable of navigating the complexities of today’s digital media landscape.
