Demonstration of Three Agriculture Technologies in Jhakribas Community, Khotang

1. Introduction:

Action for Nepal is implementing Jhakribas Multiuse Water supply system in the Jhakribas community with water capacity of 400 liter/Day per ropanee for the agriculture purpose. Action for Nepal is seeking proposals from qualified organizations or firms or Individuals to implement and demonstrate three innovative agricultural technologies to improve productivity, sustainability, and community engagement. This project is an ongoing effort to enhance local livelihoods through modern and efficient agricultural practices.

2. Objectives The primary objectives of this project are:

• To introduce and demonstrate three modern agricultural technologies suitable for the local context of Jhakribas.
• To train local farmers and community members in adopting these technologies.
• To promote the suitable technologies in the project site

3. Scope of Work The selected organization or firm or individual will be responsible for:

• Identifying and selecting three suitable agricultural technologies (e.g., drip irrigation, organic composting, kitchen gardening or precision farming tools).
• Procuring(Please provide the detail specification of materials that will be procured) and transporting the necessary equipment and materials to Jhakribas.
• Installing and demonstrating the selected technologies.
• Conducting capacity-building workshops for local farmers.
• Monitoring the performance and impacts of the technologies for a specified duration.
• Preparing a comprehensive report documenting the outcomes, challenges, and recommendations.
• Distribute the seeds/equipment’s to 30 participants after the completion of training.

4. Eligibility Criteria To qualify for this project, the applicant must:

• Be a registered organization or firm or individual with at least 5 years of experience of a trainer in agricultural development or technology demonstration.
• Have prior experience working in rural and remote areas of Nepal.
• Demonstrate technical expertise in implementing agricultural technologies.
• Have a qualified team with relevant skills and experience.

5. Proposal Requirements The proposal should include the following:

• Cover Letter: A brief introduction of the applicant and their suitability for the project.
• Technical Proposal: Detailed methodology and work plan for demonstrating the technologies.
• Financial Proposal: Itemized budget including costs for procurement, transportation, training, reporting and all cost for the completion of the work (Resource Person Expenses, fees, travel etc).
• Organization Profile: Not needed as the CV of the trainer will be given priority.
• Team Composition: CVs of key team members (Maximum Two People).

6. Evaluation Criteria Proposals will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

• Relevance and feasibility of the proposed technologies (30%)
• Technical soundness of the methodology and work plan (25%)
• Cost-effectiveness and budget allocation (20%)
• Experience and expertise of the team (15%)
• Sustainability and scalability of the proposed technologies (10%)

7. Timeline

• RFP Issuance Date: 31 January 2025
• Proposal Submission Deadline: 9 February 2025
• Evaluation and Selection: 14 February 2025
• Project Start Date: 21 February 2025
• Project Completion Date: 27 February 2025

9. Terms and Conditions

• The selected organization/Individual will be required to sign a contract before commencing the project.
• The project budget must be adhered to as per the financial proposal.
• The organization/Individual must provide regular updates to the project stakeholders.
• The implementing organization/Individual will ensure compliance with local regulations and ethical practices.

10. Financial Payment Procedures

• 60% of the payment will be made as an advance after the completion of agreement as all the materials needs to be procured and delivered.
• 40% after completion of work and submission of Final Report.
• Taxes and TDS will be deducted as per Nepal government rule for both the firms/Individuals.
