Project: USAID-funded “Elevating Local Leadership in Emergency (ELLIE)” project
Location: Remote, with occasional in-person meetings in Nepal office.
Contract Type: Fixed-Term (01 Feb 2025 - 31 Dec 2025, with potential for extension based on funding)
Reports To: Regional Finance Director
Salary: Negotiable, depending on qualifications and experience.

About the Role
Street Child is seeking a highly motivated Regional Finance Officer to support the financial management of the “ELLIE” project, a USAID-funded initiative spanning 7 regions and 15 countries. This is a key role in our finance team, offering the opportunity to work on a high-impact project, advancing localization efforts in emergency response.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Regional Finance Director, ensuring efficient financial management, compliance with donor regulations, and timely reporting. This is a primarily remote position with the requirement to visit the Regional Finance Director's office in Thasikhel-13, Lalitpur, Nepal, as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Management: Oversee day-to-day accounting and bookkeeping using Aqilla, ensuring accuracy in data entry, reconciliation, and supporting documentation.
- Grant Compliance: Ensure all financial documentation is collected, verified, and uploaded for compliance with donor and organizational requirements. Make sure documentation is audit-ready at all times.
- Reporting: Prepare monthly Budget vs. Actual (BvA) reports, drafting commentary in collaboration with the budget holder to address under/overspends, and assist in re-phasing expenditure plans as needed.
- Financial Oversight: Monitor project burn rates in relation to timelines, flagging potential financial risks, and recommending corrective actions.
- Country Coordination: Act as the liaison for country teams, ensuring that requisitions are reviewed and submitted in a timely manner, and advise on best practices around procurement and documentation.
- Donor Liaison & Reporting: Serve as the primary finance contact with the donor. Prepare donor financial reports, respond to donor inquiries, and ensure compliance with donor requirements in all aspects of financial management.
- Donor Liaison: Provide weekly updates to the Regional Finance Director, highlighting any significant financial or operational issues that need addressing.
- Process Improvement: Proactively identify areas for improving financial processes and systems to increase efficiency and compliance.
Qualifications and Experience
- Education:
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in business administration, Business Studies or a related field.
- Candidates must have a strong background in auditing donor funded projects.
- Professional Qualifications:
- Preference will be given to Chartered Accountants (CAs).
- Semi-qualified CAs with relevant audit experience are welcome to apply.

- Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).
