ChildFund Japan is a child rights focused international non-political, non-religious, and non-government development organization working in Nepal since 2006. ChildFund Japan Nepal Office (CFJ NO) would like to invite eligible candidates to apply for the following position:

Project Coordinator (PC), Start-up Phase

Kathmandu, Nepal with frequent travels to the field

Duration of Contract:

Initially for 6 months with possibility of extension depending on availability of fund

Program/Project

Safe Migration (Start-up Phase) Project

Summary of the job purpose: This position is responsible for the overall coordination and implementation of the start-up phase of the safe migration project working closely with the program and admin teams of CFJ NO and the Consultant assisting with planning, organizing, and carrying out the baseline study as well as in developing project proposal and in designing of the gender sensitive training and IEC materials on safe migration.

Key Responsibilities:

Specific responsibilities for Project Coordinator will include, but not limited to the following tasks:

  1. Planning, implementation, communication, coordination, and management.
  2. Providing technical assistance to the project consultant.
  3. Ensure monitoring and reporting of the project.
  4. Conduct meetings, advocacy, knowledge building and communication efforts.
  5. Perform other duties as may be required.

Required Education, Skills, and Experiences

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in migration, social sciences, human rights, gender/women's studies, international development, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in program /project management, planning, implementation, reporting, monitoring and evaluation in the area of cross border migration or related field.
  • Strong proven knowledge of migration and labor issues in Nepal.
  • Strong communication, documentation, presentation, writing and speaking skills both in English and Nepali.
  • Experience in facilitation, coordination and liaising/dialogue skills with government and non-government agencies, private sector and/or donor.
  • Strong analytical, advocacy, communication, and networking skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and keep tight deadlines with limited supervision.
  • Experience of project budget and financial management is a must.
  • Experience in leading/managing a team is an asset.
  • Experience working on youth migration, peace and security thematic areas would be an asset.
  • Research experience in data collection in the field of migration or population studies including (DHS, and other social surveys, etc.) would be an added advantage.
