About YUWA

Established in 2009, YUWA is a registered not-for-profit, purely youth-run and led organization that promotes youth participation through empowerment and advocacy. YUWA was born out of a group of committed youths, unofficially working in this sector since 2005. The initial focus was to develop the leadership skills of the youths involved, to train as youth activists, and to advocate for change, thus resulting in a wide and diverse array of knowledge, skills, and experience in this sector. It led to the realization of the seriousness of youth issues and the need to act, which finally took the shape of YUWA. YUWA currently works in three thematic areas: Active Citizenship, Sexual and Reproductive Rights and Research Unit. Under Active Citizenship YUWA has Y-SPARK as one of its projects.

Y-SPARCK (Youth - Strengthening Policy, Advocacy, Research, Campaign, and Knowledge) is a collaborative project with Plan International Nepal focusing on SRHR, climate change, and policy coherence. YUWA is seeking an enthusiastic person to coordinate programs and work with the team in planning and implementation of activities under the active citizenship department of YUWA. The program coordinator, in collaboration with the program officer, will be responsible for planning, designing and execution of activities, monitoring and supervision and development of reports. The Program Coordinator will be responsible for supporting the execution of this project by overseeing youth engagement, advocacy, SRHR and campaign activities.

Department: Active Citizenship

Active Citizenship is a core thematic area of YUWA, where the organization empowers youth to become engaged and responsible members of society. YUWA believes that young people are active partners in the development process, not just beneficiaries. Through this thematic area, the organization focuses on transforming youth into active citizens by equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities to take meaningful action in their communities and beyond.
