The Himalayan Education And Development (HEAD Nepal) is perpetual successor, autonomous, self-governing, organized, non-profit making, non-political, non-religious and non-governmental regional organization working for the empowerment and development of people with disabilities in the Himalayan region of Nepal. The organization was founded in 2011 by Mr. Chhitup Lama with the active participation of the local people of Humla.

Vacancy Announcement for Project Coordinator
HEAD Nepal, a leading non-profit organization dedicated to empowering people with disabilities in the Humla district of Nepal, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Project Coordinator to lead our year-long "Inclusive Climate Action" project.
About the Project:
In partnership with the Women’s Environment Development Organization (WEDO), this project aims to empower communities in Humla to adapt to the impacts of climate change and build sustainable practices. We will develop the institutional capacity of the organization to showcase, amplify, and scale disability and gender-responsive climate initiatives in the Himalayas, making gender equality and women’s rights central to just climate action.
About the Role:
Based in Simkot, Humla, with frequent travel to Simkot and Namkha Rural Municipalities, the Project Coordinator will be responsible for:
- Project Management: Oversee and manage all project activities, ensuring timely and effective implementation.
- Capacity Building: Conduct training on climate-smart agriculture and climate adaptation for farmers and local organizations.
- Community & Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with communities, partners, and government stakeholders.
- Monitoring & Reporting: Track project progress, collect data, and prepare reports for stakeholders.
- Advocacy & Awareness: Lead advocacy efforts on inclusive climate solutions and develop accessible IEC materials.
- Fundraising Support: Assist in developing fundraising strategies and writing proposals.
- MEAL & Organizational Development: Support MEAL strategy development and provide related training.
- Logistics & Procurement: Oversee procurement processes for project needs.
- Other Duties: Support other tasks as assigned by the Executive Director.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of experience, or Master's degree with 2+ years of experience in a relevant field (development or environmental sector preferred).
- Strong understanding of climate change issues and adaptation strategies.
- Proven experience in project coordination, reporting, training, advocacy, and field mobilization.
- Experience working in Humla or similar remote locations is a strong asset.
- Experience working on disability rights and climate change is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills in English and Nepali (written and verbal).
- Proficiency in MS Office and internet applications.
- Strong social media and digital platform skills.
