Job Summary

The Project coordinator oversees the implementation of “Capacity development support to organizations of persons with disabilities to promote disability rights and inclusion in the governance and development process of Nepal” project. S/he will provide overall leadership and supervision in project implementation and quality delivery of results, ensuring donor compliance, monitoring, evaluation, and learning in close collaboration with senior management team, funding agency and the project team. S/he will manage the project team and build their capacity for effective implementation of the project. S/he will develop and maintain effective and authentic collaboration to ensure effective delivery of our project strategy and maintain high standards and quality.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Project Management:

  • Lead project implementation as the focal point.
  • Supervise, development and execution of project implementation plans, monitoring and evaluation processes, and knowledge sharing systems along with the steering committee in line with organizations and funding agencies standards and protocol.
  • Develop annual project action plans and detail implementation plans in coordination with the project team.
  • Regular review, track, and report on project indicators.
  • Support learning dissemination and documentation of good practice cases.
  • Ensure collaboration between the Finance Unit and program aspects of project planning, budgeting, and implementation.
  • Foster a culture of learning and accountability through inclusive monitoring, evaluation, feedback, and learning practices within projects.

2. Coordination, Collaboration, and Advocacy:

  • Build and maintain collaborations/partnerships with stakeholders, particularly in the disability movement.
  • Advocate for mainstreaming rights and services, ensuring responsiveness to the needs of persons with disabilities at the Federal Level.
  • Support in planning and execution of lobbying and advocacy with local and provincial government representatives.
  • Lead as the point of contact for communication of project status.
  • Coordinate monitoring/support visits from central level and partners.
  • Coordinate donor visits or external visits to the project.

3. Project Team Management:

  • Lead and supervise the project team, providing vision and direction.
  • Support team performance through real-time feedback, guidance, and mentoring.
  • Facilitate performance management, updates, leave plans, monthly plans, timesheets, and field visits etc. of project team members.
  • Promote a culture of learning and identify professional development opportunities or capacity building. 
  • Develop strong relationships and ensure a safe work environment among project staff.
  • Mentor, supervise, and support team members in engaging with persons with disabilities and SHGs.
  • Ensure monthly review of the project team, sharing updates with the central office.

4. Documentation, Database Management, and Reporting:

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project documentation, plans, and reports.
  • Submit monthly project progress updates to the Line Manager and MEAL unit.
  • Ensure project reporting requirements align with donor standards and timelines.
  • Support the team in developing success stories, good practices, learning documents and maintaining record and databases of beneficiaries including pictures, and voices from the field.

5. Safety & Security: 

  • Ensure safety and security during project implementation
  • Analyze and identify potential risks and handle any issues that arise. 

6. Safeguarding: 

  • Ensure that all individuals reached by the project, including children and adults, are safeguarded.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational Safeguarding and Prevention of Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, and Harassment policies.
  • Promote safeguarding among project teams, embedding it in all stages of project cycle management.

7. Other Responsibilities:

  • Undertake any tasks assigned by the organization relevant to your experience and project requirements.

Qualifications & Essential Qualities:

  • Master’s degree in public health, social science and any other relevant studies.
  • At least 4 years of prior work experience in Project management and related fields.
  • Experience and sound knowledge in the field of disability, disability rights and advocacy are desirable.
  • Experience in designing different tools, guidelines, and delivery training,
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
  • Demonstrated skill in building collaborative relationships with stakeholders,
  • People management and capacity building skills.
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking and planning skills
  • Proactive, focused and result oriented.
  • Well organized with the ability to work on multiple priorities.
  • Excellent written and spoken Nepali and English.
  • Computers: Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Salary: As per organization rules and HR policy.
