Women’s Rehabilitation Centre (WOREC) is a national level NGO working for women's human rights and to ensure women empowerment through protection and promotion of human rights and social justice focusing on campaigns against violence against women, and women's economic, social and cultural rights nation-wide. Our working districts with offices are spread over Morang, Sunsari, Udayapur, Dhanusha, Mahottari, Sarlahi, Dang, Kailali, Rukum and additional working districts are Rupandehi, Kapilvastu,Kanchanpur, Jajarkot, Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Kavrepalanchok and Saptari district. The Central Office is located in Lalitpur. 

Position title: Project Coordinator – 1

Job location: Based in Kathmandu possibility to travel to organization working area and district

The Project Coordinator will oversee the overall management, coordination, and implementation of the project aimed at preventing and responding to Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV), empowering women and youth leaders, advocating for the right to mobility, decent work, and social security, and generating knowledge for advocacy on labor migration and refugee rights. The coordinator will ensure that project activities are implemented effectively, in line with objectives, and within the allocated budget and timeframe.

1. Key Responsibilities

Project Management:

  • Lead and coordinate the implementation of related to project migration/mandate refugee, right to mobility and decent work and ensuring alignment with project goals and objectives.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets to ensure efficient resource allocation and adherence to timelines.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory, financial, and organizational requirements, maintaining high standards of accountability and transparency.

Team and Stakeholder Coordination:

  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among project staff, field staff, office staff, district offices, and stakeholders.
  • Organize and facilitate orientations, training sessions, workshops, and periodic team meetings.
  • Attend meetings organized by donors and strategic partners (SPs).

Monitoring and Reporting:

  • Monitor project progress, providing periodic reports and updates to stakeholders.
  • Address challenges proactively and adjust plans to ensure the successful completion of project activities.
  • Oversee the collection and documentation of community experiences, case studies, and proper case management.

Advocacy and Community Engagement:

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with local communities, government officials, CSOs, and national and international networks.
  • Coordinate with community-based organizations, women and girls’ networks, Women Human Rights Defenders (W/HRDs), and CSOs to build alliances and lead campaigns promoting women’s empowerment and gender equality.
  • Develop policy brief, survey reports, press release and other knowledge documents related to migration issues for policy advocacy.
  • Represent WOREC in relevant forums, networks, and meetings to promote project objectives and share best practices.

Risk Management:

  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with project activities to ensure continuity and minimize disruptions.

2. Qualifications and Experience

  • A Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Gender Studies, Public Health, Migration, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in project management, particularly in human rights, social justice, labor migration, and the right to work.
  • Proven experience in advocacy, policy engagement, and capacity-building initiatives.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools.
  • Willingness to travel frequently to project sites.

3. Skills and Abilities

  • Strong skills in project planning, implementation, monitoring, reporting, coordination, and organization.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective stakeholder engagement and networking skills.
  • High level of cultural sensitivity and adaptability.
  • Proficiency in English and Nepali is mandatory; knowledge of additional languages is an asset.
  • Strong skills in computer-based reporting, communication, and resource management.
