Vacancy Announcement
Samari Utthan Sewa (SUS) is a non-governmental, not-for-profit organization established in 2008 by youth from the Dalit community. The organization is dedicated to advocating for the rights of Dalits and other minority groups, addressing critical issues related to caste, gender, and sexuality. With a strong emphasis on sustainable community development, knowledge production, advocacy, and results-based management, SUS has positioned itself as a leading civil society actor in Nepal.
SUS is currently seeking two dedicated and experienced Project Coordinators to lead the following initiatives: Protection and Assistance to Vulnerable Internal Migrant Workers from the Adult Entertainment Sector (AES) in Nepal - SHARMIK, and Prevention of Trafficking and Exploitation of Women and Vulnerable Children in Chitwan District - PROTECT.
The SHARMIK project aims to drive systemic change and promote sustainable social protection for internal migrant workers by empowering local governments to implement effective social security and protection schemes. Additionally, the project seeks to enhance the resilience of internal migrant workers through strategies that improve access to dignified job opportunities, livelihood support, skill development training, legal aid, and psychosocial counselling.
In contrast, the PROTECT project is strategically designed to mitigate the risk of human trafficking, with a particular focus on internal trafficking. By fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for survivors, this initiative aims to empower individuals to reclaim their dignity and reintegrate into society. To achieve these objectives, the project will establish a community-owned and sustainable framework that prioritizes access for poor, vulnerable, and marginalized groups, recognizing the critical role of local engagement and ownership in addressing the complex issues surrounding trafficking.
