Decision making | Developing programmes, projects and feminist movement plans and overseeing their implementation in consultation with the Chairperson. |
Purpose: Provide strategic leadership, ensure effective programme implementation, and uphold organisational values while fostering innovation, collaboration, and accountability in line with BBC Nepal's mission and strategic plan.
Key Responsibilities
Overall Leadership
- Provide strategic direction for programme/project planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and learning (PMEL) with a feminist, and human rights-based approach.
- Lead the development and execution of innovative programmes that align with the organisation’s mission and strategic plan.
- Ensure compliance with organisational reuglations, policies, development partners requirements, and quality standards.
- Cultivate a collaborative and motivated work environment to attract, retain, and empower diverse talents.
Programme Development and Resource Mobilisation
- Lead the conceptualisation and design of new projects, fostering partnerships for resource generation.
- Establish the relationship with Government, Development Partners organisations and related agencies.
- Strengthen programme sustainability by developing funding proposals and diversifying resource streams.
- Ensure timely submission of detailed programme proposals, periodic progress reports, and annual reports to development partners.
Operational Management
- Implement strategic plans, operationalise decisions of the Executive Committee, and ensure efficient resource utilisation.
- Provide leadership in the supervision, and appraisal of staff, promoting professional growth.
- Oversee programme/project related financial management, ensuring budget adherence, cost-effectiveness, and fiscal accountability.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Maintain effective communication with funding agencies, government bodies, and other stakeholders.
- Represent BBC Nepal at local, national and international forums, enhancing its visibility and professional networks.
- Coordinate and collaborate with provincial committees and partner organisations for capacity building and advocacy efforts.
Specific Responsibilities
Organisational Development
- Supervise programme/project teams in designing, planning, and implementing annual work plans and strategic initiatives.
- Strengthen organisational capacity by fostering cross-team collaboration and innovation.
Programme Management
- Develop detailed action plans and oversee their implementation, ensuring alignment with project objectives.
- Monitor and evaluate programme/project outcomes, document learnings, and integrate findings for improved practices.
- Provide technical expertise to ensure programme/project excellence, from planning to execution.
Financial Management
- Support the development and management of budgets, forecasting, and spending projections.
- Uphold financial discipline in line with BBC Nepal’s Finance Management and Administrative Regulations (FMAR).
- Ensure accountability in resource utilisation and reporting.
Networking and Communication
- Foster partnerships with government, UN agencies, and national/international organisations.
- Advocate for BBC Nepal's mission through participation in relevant meetings and forums.
- Develop and maintain professional communication with development partners and stakeholders.
Human Resource Development
- Facilitate training and capacity-building initiatives for staff to enhance their technical and managerial skills.
- Create an inclusive and empowering work environment to support staff retention and career growth.
Qualifications and Competencies
- Master’s degree in human rights, gender studies, management and/or women studies
- Minimum of 5 years' relevant experience in a management role.
- Proven mangerial and leadership experience in programme management, preferably in feminist or rights-based organisations.
- Strong understanding of gender equality, social justice, human rights frameworks and theory of change.
- Excellent communication, networking, and advocacy skills.
- Financial acumen with the ability to oversee complex budgets and donor relations.
- Demonstrated ability to foster teamwork, build capacity, and manage diverse teams.
