Nepal Public Health Research and Development Center (PHRD Nepal), established in 2016, is a non-profit, non-political, non-governmental organization dedicated to public health research. The organization contributes to scientific advancement through various surveys and studies and promotes evidence-based decision-making in public health through innovative approaches.
PHRD Nepal, in partnership with UNICEF Nepal, is implementing the Strengthening Pandemic Preparedness for Early Detection in Nepal (SPEED) project. Qualified professionals are invited to join the project team.
Position:
1. Program Officers - 12,
Job Summary:
The Program Officers will support the implementation of the project at the municipal level, ensuring effective community engagement, data collection, health surveillance, and capacity building. The role requires close coordination with local health facilities, community leaders, and stakeholders to enhance early detection and response to public health threats.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and coordinate Community-Based Disease Surveillance (CBS) program activities at the municipal level.
- Engage communities, build capacity, and establish feedback mechanisms for health event reporting.
- Monitor data collection, verify accuracy, and conduct field visits for validation.
- Support health event surveillance and integration with broader systems.
- Train and guide local health workers, leaders, and volunteers.
- Collaborate with health teams and ensure timely reporting.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Health or related field.
- Experience in community surveillance, data collection, or public health programs.
- Strong communication, analytical, and coordination skills.
- Familiarity with early detection systems and local health protocols.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with local stakeholders.
Position:
2. SBC Officer - 1,
The SBC Officer (Social Behavior Change Officer) will be responsible for leading the design and implementation of impactful communication strategies that drive public health awareness and behavior change at the community level. The successful candidate will work closely with NHEICC to develop culturally appropriate messaging and materials across multiple channels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement SBC strategies to enhance public health awareness through digital and print materials.
- Collaborate with NHEICC and local stakeholders to develop culturally appropriate, multilingual health communication materials.
- Monitor and evaluate SBC interventions, ensuring alignment with national health priorities.
- Monitor broadcast (radio/TV), print, and digital media coverage of health campaigns.
- Work collaboratively with health authorities, community organizations, and media partners to ensure an integrated approach to public health education and behavior change.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s/Master’s in Public Health, Communication, Social Sciences, or related field.
- Proven experience in SBC, health communication, or media campaigns, including working with NHIECC or similar government health agencies.
- Strong skills in designing digital and print materials (experience with graphic tools is a plus).
- Fluency in local languages and understanding of socio-cultural health dynamics.
- Ability to collaborate with government, media, and community partners.
