Rural Development Centre (RDC) Nepal is a non-political and non-profitable organization established in May 2002 with its head office in Rautahat District of Nepal. Since then, RDC is heavily engaged in humanitarian assistance, community development, conservation of natural resources, and environmental protection mainly in the Terai region of Nepal through the dozens of humanitarian and long-term development projects reaching out to the children, adolescent, youth, women, landless, urban poor, and people living with disabilities, HIV & AIDS, conflict and disaster survivors from the poor families of historically marginalized Dalits, Muslims, Madheshi and Indigenous communities and other underprivileged groups.

Details / requirements:

RDC Nepal is implementing and going to implement projects related to Health and Nutrition. Thus, the organization is seeking for qualified, dynamic, and motivated Nepali professional on following positions based in Rautahat District:

1. Position: Program Officer-Health and Nutrition

No. of vacant position: 01

Duty Station: Rautahat District.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead health and nutrition component of the project and monitor performance of the project team ensuring project activities are delivered within scope, time and budget.
  • Annual planning, budgeting, and project activities implementation
  • Coordinate across health and nutrition field staff to ensure the development and regular use of all technical tools including implementation guideline, quality benchmark, training materials, training curriculum, information materials, behavior change communication (BCC) materials and other resources.
  • Orient Field Officers and Mobilizers on programming tools and materials for successful program implementation.
  • Capacity building of Field Officers and Mobilizers to ensure adequate competencies at field level to deliver all necessary components of the health and nutrition program.
  • Regular monitoring and analysis of program results in coordination with MEAL department. 
  • Identify, assess, and communicate risks associated with the implementation of project, and develop mitigation measures 
  • Regular reporting, documentation, and collection of success stories on regular basis.
  • Maintain strong coordination with funding agency and developmental partners.  
  • Maintain strong relationship with technical officials of government institutions and like-minded organizations in the district.

TECHNICAL EXPERTISE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

Academic qualification and experience:

  • Bachelors in public health or Nutrition related Science with at least three years of experience in health/nutrition project management.

Sector Knowledge:

  • Sector knowledge on maternal child health and nutrition (Infant and Young Child Feeding practices (IYCF), Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition (IMAM), Maternal and infant young child nutrition (MIYCN), Multi sector Nutrition Plan (MSNP))
  • Government policies, strategies and training packages (Comprehensive Nutrition Package, Nutrition Friendly Local Government)
  • Sound knowledge on behavior change communication approaches, Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) approach

Project Management:

  • Good understanding on operation issues like timely delivery of services, good planning and monitoring skill.
  • Sound knowledge & skill on project risk analysis and management, including ability to manage project activities in changing context.
  • Skills to analyze project related data and incorporate in the report
  • Sound knowledge on supply chain management
  • Monthly budget forecast and planning, quarterly expense tracking and review of expenses. 
  • Meet financial requirement and deadline as per compliances; verification of vouchers, advance settlements etc
  • Good report writing skills for monthly, semi-annual and annual reports

MEAL:

  • Sound skill to make periodic monitoring and evaluation plan
  • Sound knowledge on monitoring tools and methods
  • Good analysis and presentation skills
  • Skills to incorporate the findings/feedback into programming
  • Project database (such as real time monitoring, beneficiary tracking) establishment and interpretation skill
  • Skilled in using Microsoft office applications and other online based software

2. Position: Field Officer- Livelihood

No. of vacant position: 01

Duty Station: Rautahat District

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support in the preparation and implementation of agriculture and livestock interventions, small business / micro-credit interventions.
  • In consultation with the program officer, finalize the beneficiary selection criteria and different categories of IGA support as per the need and preference of the recipient beneficiary. 
  • Support field-level needs assessments; on livelihood identification, feasible business types assessment and business plan development activities
  • Provide capacity building training to the beneficiaries/ HHs on different themes, cascade different trainings to ensure the quality of economic strengthening interventions.
  • Support and facilitate the implementation of agriculture extension, business plan development, marketing and environmentally friendly activities as per the set work plan and methodologies.
  • Provide technical support and strategic direction to field-based staff who oversee project implementation

TECHNICAL EXPERTISE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

Academic qualification and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in agriculture science with more than two years of experience in livelihood/ agriculture related project (preferably Graduation Model and Value Chain Development)

Sector Knowledge:

  • Knowledge on Ultra-Poor Graduation model and value chain development
  • Facilitate & support for economic empowerment of most vulnerable especially women.
  • Knowledge on vocational trainings and alternative livelihood opportunities

Project Management:

Duties applicable to all staff
