We research, document, artvocate, campaign, and collaborate to amplify new social movements around the globe. We create digital discourse to expand civic space and make communities more inclusive, resilient, democratic, and peaceful. 

FS is implementing the Media Artivism Fellowship project in Lumbini Province, partnering with The Asia Foundation (TAF) under the Civil Society and Media Activity (CSM) supported by the American people through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID)

Job Profile:

FS is working to voice the concerns of vulnerable and marginalized communities through producing diverse yet highly attractive and engaging audio-visual contents. FS is committed to building knowledge and skills of members from these communities on the appropriate uses of digital media space to flourish their narrative. We are working to support them on producing high-quality audio-visual stories and audio drama in the form of TikTok videos, Instagram post/reels, YouTube shorts/videos, Facebook post/stories, Anchor podcast and Snapchat and strengthen their movements.

The Program Officer will work as a core team of the company, where he/she will be responsible for the research the use of art for freedom and justice movements, capacity and leadership building trainings to young community members, frequent communication and coordination with community members and fellows, planning and implementation of project activities, report writing and support Creative Department in development of artivism contents.

This position is on a contractual basis. We expect daily seven hours of work commitment from Sunday to Friday.

Major responsibilities:

  • Support to design and develop indicators, methodology, and tools to carry out capacity need assessments of youths from marginalized communities in the targeted districts. 
  • Coordinate with consultant and program team to design a training manual based on the findings of need assessment. 
  • Provide capacity building support to youth fellows and young community members as per the need of the company.
  • Coordinate with youth groups, community groups and media to conduct field level activities and assess the nature of support (advisory, technical, and financial) they require in the field. 
  • Write high-quality reports of all the project activities conducted. 
  • Coordinate and communicate with field-based fellows and build strong relationships with target groups. 
  • Frequently engage and motivate fellows to activity participate in social media platforms, specifically facebook close group. 
  • Develop and implement strategies to engage and mobilize artivist network of FS. 
  • Review relevant policies, media reports, policy papers, articles, and other relevant sources to generate wider understanding on artivism and its challenges and opportunities in the Nepalese context.
  • Support to creative department producing documents and promotional materials of professional standard for social media handling.
  • Perform other duties related to the job as assigned by the supervisor and the leadership team.

Qualification and Skills Required:

  • Experience in project management and report writing. [Essential] 
  • Hold or is currently pursing master’s or bachelor’s degree (for eg: Development Studies, Public Policy, Social Work, Conflict Studies or any social sciences) with at least one year of relevant experience. 
  • Comprehensive knowledge of social and political issues related to civic engagement, governance, public policy, community-driven development etc.
  • Effective communications skills and extensive experience to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Good command on Nepali and English language (both writing and speaking).
  • Ability to coordinate and strengthen partnership with government officials, youth groups, CSOs, media and target communities.
  • Have access to own laptop for official use.
  • Proven ability to handle multiple tasks at a time and able to accomplish quality work with strict deadlines.
  • Hardworking, adaptive, result oriented and a good team player.
  • Flexible work timing. Willing to work on off days and public holidays.
