Sahakarmi Samaj (SS) is a registered NGO dedicated to empowering disadvantaged and marginalized communities to become self-reliant since 1997. 

Our vision is that the 'marginalized people of Nepal will secure justice and an enhanced quality of life as equal and active citizens in an inclusive, interdependent, well-governed and sustainable society'. 

Our Mission is: To ensure that there is sufficient capacity amongst disadvantaged and marginalized people, as well as amongst the organizations and institutions whose purpose is to serve them, to initiate and sustain inclusive processes of governance that are oriented towards the just distribution of rights, opportunities and resources and an optimal quality of life for all.

Sahakarmi Samaj is seeking a qualified candidates to lead the Local Right Project (LRP) funded by Action aid International. The candidate who meets the following criteria are strongly encouraged to apply. 

1. Position: Program Coordinator - 1

Job Location: Bheriganga Municipality, Surkhet, Karnali Province

Report to: Program-related reports- Executive Director and Program Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Coordinator

Supervising to: Program Officer, Senior Community Educators and Community Educators

Working relationship: Admin and Finance Team, Program Officer, Program Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Coordinator, Program Partner Organization

Coordination With: Program Partner Organizations, Concerned government line agencies, Local  Government, I/NGOs, SS learning partners, SS training partners, etc.

Duties and Responsibilities: The program coordinator has a vital role to lead the planning, budgeting, and implementation of our Local Rights Program (LRP) using a human rights-based approach. The Coordinator will oversee program operations, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and compliance standards. This role involves close coordination with internal teams and external stakeholders, effective management of the LRP team, and diligent adherence to all policies, procedures, and reporting requirements. Their responsibilities include:

  • Planning and Coordination: S/he program coordinator is responsible for developing project plans, timelines, and budgets. S/he coordinates with team members, stakeholders, and partners to ensure the smooth implementation of the LRP project.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation: The program coordinator monitors the progress of the LRP project, tracks key performance indicators, and evaluates the impact of the project on the community and environment.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: The program coordinator engages with community members, local government, NGOs, and other stakeholders to build partnerships and ensure the project meets the needs of the Sahakarmi Samaj. Maintain close coordination with Palika, local government agencies, and civil society organizations to facilitate resource leverage and collaboration with local farmers, community groups, and networks.
  • Capacity Building: The program coordinator provides training and support to LRP project staff and community members to build their capacity in group mobilization, organizational strengthening and sustainable development. Implement the program in a gender-sensitive and inclusive manner, promoting women and disadvantaged group leadership within the groups.
  • Reporting and Documentation: The program coordinator prepares regular reports on project progress, challenges, and achievements. S/he also ensures proper documentation of project activities and outcomes. Participate in Sahakarmi Samaj’s promotional activities and foster a healthy working environment with Sahakarmi Samaj staff and stakeholders.
  • Risk Management: The program coordinator identifies potential risks to the project and develops strategies to mitigate them. S/he ensures compliance with regulations and ethical standards.
  • Monitoring and Quality Assurance: The program coordinator plays a key role in ensuring the successful implementation of a community development and LRP project by effectively managing resources, engaging stakeholders, and monitoring progress toward project goals. Oversee all program activities and check the quality of program delivery as per SS values and standards.
  • Building Collaboration and Relationship: Maintain positive relationships with donors, partners, and stakeholders, representing the program in various forums and meetings in the respective Palikas.
  • Ensure Compliance of Project and Organization: Ensure the implementation of Sahakarmi Samaj's safeguard policies and code of conduct with the staff team and stakeholders. Regularly update the Executive Director on project activities and perform additional tasks as assigned by the Executive Director

Competencies: Basic Requirements for the position include:

  • A Master degree with 2 years' experience or Bachelor degree with 5 years' in any discipline experience in development, advocacy, and project management through a human rights lens.
  • Experience working with remote communities, managing teams, and LRP projects.
  • Proficiency in proposal writing, result frameworks, theory of change, monitoring, and evaluation.
  • Experience in coordinating advocacy, campaigns, and promotional activities with various stakeholders, including the media.
  • Willingness to reside with community members and travel frequently to communities.
  • Ability to develop and implement program strategies, and work plans, and manage budgets and staff.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a respect for marginalized communities.
  • Non-dominating, non-discriminatory, and encouraging attitude towards community members.
  • Fluency in Nepali and English, both written and spoken.
  • Computer literacy, including proficiency in MS Office applications and project management software.
  • Excellent facilitation skills for participatory training, workshops, seminars, and interactions.

2. Position: Program Officer - 1

Coordination With: Program Partner Organizations, Concerned government line agencies, Local  Government, I/NGOs, SS learning partners, SS training partners, etc.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Program officer is to support the effective implementation of our child sponsorship program and contribute to the delivery of rights-based development initiatives. The role combines technical and creative skills, requiring proficiency in data management, case story writing, and photography to support program visibility, accountability, and impact storytelling. Their responsibilities include:

  • Provide necessary technical know-how in his/her respective areas and ensures the convergence of child right, social mobilization and advocacy activities in the field. Provide technical support to the project staff and supervise the field staff (SM) work closely with Program coordinator.
  • The officer should establish a sound working relation with local government, and ensures a good cooperation in the project area. Also, he/she requires a good knowledge, skills and experience on mobilization and facilitating of staff and communities.
  • Provide technical input through the design and delivery of training and other activities relevant to Local rights program activities.
  • Training, mentoring, and supporting teams throughout the project sites to complete our LRP objectives.
  • Organize and facilitate field level meetings, workshop, group discussion, and training activities.
  • Working with the monitoring department to create monitoring protocols and work plans to track Child right and social impacts of the project activities. Giving Technical Solution to local staff
  • Visit community development groups and member's located in project working area.
  • Support community educators, visit with them and train them in social mobilization and child right issue.
  • Participate regular team meeting and work as per planning.
  • Provide technical assistance to the community. Guide communities to conduct group meetings and provide required suggestions to solve emerging issues.
  • Report monthly, quarterly, half-yearly and annual progress on all project activities to the Program Coordinator

Competencies:

  • Bachelor Degree in social science, and other relevant disciplines having at least 2 years of working experience in the field of social empowerment process and community development sectors.
  • Previous work experience in similar kind of project like social mobilization and empowerment, Food Security, Nutrition and integrated community development sectors and social and community mobilization is highly preferred.
  • Experiences in working with team, team building, and outcomes-oriented community level engagement for building the synergy outcomes and results in collaboration with concern local stakeholders and other development actors.
  • Experiences in organizing training, facilitation of workshops and other capacity building activities for different level of audiences.
  • Well versed in English and Nepali languages and have good knowledge of computer skills with general software such as Microsoft Office and excel.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English languages
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and report writing
  • Interested and keen for policy lobby and advocacy on said sectors at local level.
  • Good interpersonal and analytical skills.
  • Coordination, Collaboration, Leadership and organizational skills.
  • Interest to work in remote area along with strong communication, planning, and teamwork abilities.
