Project Background:

Nepal has made significant progress in increasing basic education enrolment rates. However, challenges remain in ensuring quality learning and retention, particularly for marginalized adolescents. This project aims to strengthen non-formal education (NFE) solutions for out-of-school adolescents, ensuring they have access to quality learning opportunities and are able to transition back to formal education or enter the workforce.

Job Summary

 The Program Coordinator will play a crucial role in the successful implementation of the project. S/he will be responsible for providing technical support and strengthening the capacity of local governments and other stakeholders to mainstream and scale-up effective alternative pathway solutions for the most marginalized out of school adolescents in project sites. The key responsibilities include:

i)         Program Implementation:

·       Oversee the effective operation of Kheldai Sikne Kendra (KSK) as alternative pathway program.

·       Facilitate and input in training, curriculum development, and community mobilization.

·       Ensure activities are aligned with project objectives and adhere to established timelines and budgets.

·       Monitor and evaluate project progress, identifying challenges and implementing corrective actions.

ii)       Coordination and Collaboration:

·       Coordinate with local governments, community learning centers (CLCs), and other stakeholders to ensure effective project implementation.

·       Build and maintain strong working relationships with partners, including UNICEF, CARE Nepal, and government agencies.

·       Facilitate communication and knowledge sharing between project team members and stakeholders.

·       Play role as focal person for the project 

iii)     Capacity Building:

·       Develop and deliver training programs for CLC staff, KSK class mobilizer, and facilitator on MGML and alternative approaches, curriculum development, and project management.

·       Support the development of training materials and resources.

·       Facilitate knowledge sharing and peer learning among project participants.

iv)     Monitoring and Evaluation:

·       Collect and analyse data on project progress and impact.

·       Prepare regular reports on project activities and outcomes.

·       Contribute to the development of monitoring and evaluation tools and systems.

v)       Advocacy and Communication:

·       Advocate for the importance of NFE & Lifelong learning and the needs of marginalized adolescents.

·       Develop and disseminate project materials and reports to stakeholders.

·       Represent the project at meetings and conferences.

vi)     Reporting

·       Responsible to submit quality periodic report to funding agency and concerned other agencies

·       Supervise local partners for program implementation and ensure necessary periodic report from them

 

Qualification:

Bachelor’s Degree or preferable master’s degree in Education, Development Studies, or a related field from a recognized University.

Experience/Competencies for this position: 

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in program management for bachelor’s degree holder and 2 years’ experience if master’s degree, particularly in the education sector

  • Strong understanding of the education system and non-formal education approaches in Nepal

  • Expertise in capacity building, training, and facilitating workshops

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively with government agencies, civil society organizations, and local communities

  • Excellent report writing skills.

  • Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel etc.)

  • Proficiency in English and Nepali languages at professional level is essential;
