Fellowship description: Policy Research Fellow

Location: Centre for Social Change, Kathmandu

Overview: Centre for Social Change (CSC) is seeking an insightful and dedicated young researchers to conduct research on climate resilience, focusing on climate resilient agricultural value chains. The ideal candidate must have a distinct inquisitiveness and curiosity on various aspects related to research, with a genuine drive to strengthen the policy/ institutional coherence in Nepal. This innovative opportunity aims to capacitate young researchers in the field of climate resilience agriculture and policy research and promote Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) as a climate adaptation or mitigation measure. This initiative especially aims to work with small holder farmers and core stakeholders at local, provincial and national levels. 

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in field related to Agriculture, Environment Science or Social Sciences
  • At least 1 years’ experience in conducting research, preferably in areas related to Climate change or CSA
  • Substantive knowledge on value chain 
  • Experience in carrying out research in the field
  • Good knowledge of federal governance structures and sub national governments  
  • Efficient communication and coordination skill

Key responsibilities:

  • Assist research lead with research design and methodology development. 
  • Assist research team in data collection, analysis and presentation.
  • Review governing policies in relation to Climate governance, especially related to CSA
  • Implement effective ways to present and disseminate research findings
  • Establish an affirmative communication and coordination with government officials during the research 
  • Ensure the research findings reach the concerned governing authorities, policy makers and other relevant stakeholders 
  • Ensure quality and timely delivery of key objectives of the research

Please note that orientation for young researchers will be provided by CSC, before conducting the research. Also, this position may include field visits to study areas.
