The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), an independent humanitarian organization whose mandate is to provide protection and assistance for victims of armed conflict and other situations of violence. The ICRC has been working with Nepalese Army through its Army Rehabilitation Centre at Yerahity, Kathmandu to provide quality and customized physical rehabilitation services to people with physical disability. For this purpose ICRC would like to announce the vacancy as below:

Position: Physiotherapist (PT)

No. of Position: 1

Work Place: Army Rehabilitation Centre, Yerahity, Kathmandu

Work Under: Army Rehabilitation Centre, Yerahity, Kathmandu            

Type of Contract: Consultant

Period:1 Year (2 months’ probation period)

Job Summary: To perform physiotherapeutic assessment of patients with diverse and complex conditions, to provide a physiotherapy diagnosis and to develop and deliver a patient focused treatment program.

A. Clinical Responsibilities

  • To undertake comprehensive (holistic & multi-Disciplinary  assessments and formulate a treatment program through shared goals with patients, yet maintaining functional, realistic and measurable goals to all patients referred for physiotherapy.
  • To demonstrate excellent communication skills with patients and their care takers, as well as with members of the MDT specifically with Prosthetics and Orthotic Unit of the centre
  • To deliver treatment in a safe, secure environment - re-assessing goals and adapting your treatment plans as identified through effective clinical reasoning skills.
  • To encourage patients and their care takers in an active approach to regaining and maintaining independence which requires empathy, sensitivity and good interpersonal skills.
  • To attain competencies for the safe use of all equipment and techniques before use.

B. Other Responsibilities

  • To exercise good personal time management, punctuality and consistent reliable attendance
  • To maintain the record of all activities and report whenever requested
  • To provide support, guidance and training to physiotherapy assistants

Minimum required knowledge & experience:

  • Minimum Intermediate in Physiotherapy with 3-years’ experience in managing spinal injury patients

OR

  • Bachelor in Physiotherapy with minimum 1 years experience in managing spinal injury patients will be preferable
  • Skills having multidisciplinary team approach
  • Good writing and speaking in English & Nepali languages
  • Good reporting and case management skills in both languages
  • Good analytical skills
  • Listening skills and ability to display empathy during interviews
  • Good communication skills
  • Good resource mobilization skills
