TPO Nepal seeks competent, committed and result oriented candidate for the following position under EQUIP-SU project:
Position: Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) Officer
Station: Kathmandu based with frequent travel to Pokhara
Number of Opening: 1 Part-time (2 days a week or 40% FTE)
Start Date: At the earliest
Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) is a collaborative partnership between researchers and people with lived experiences (PWLEs) of mental health conditions in the research process. In the Ensuring Quality In Psychological Support – Service User Quality Assessment (EQUIP-SU) project, PPI will have an active role in the design, implementation and dissemination of the research as opposed to being involved as just research participants. The PPI officer will, hence, co-lead and co-design the EQUIP-SU activities during the study period.
Roles and responsibilities include:
- Coordinating and steering TPO Nepal’s service user’s Lived Experience Advisory (LEA) group meetings
- Providing guidance on ethical issues and safe and sensitive research practice of involving PWLEs in the project
- Developing and providing feedback on the research materials and design through the PWLE lens
- Providing strategic guidance on working with PWLEs and service user groups within the project
- Providing guidance and advice on the overall development and implementation of the EQUIP-SU project in Nepal
- Supporting in the training and capacity building of other PWLEs and stakeholders both internally (within TPO Nepal) and externally
- Assisting in collecting and analyzing data
- Disseminating research findings to relevant audience
Skills and attributes required:
Must:
- Lived experience of mental health condition and have sought professional support from primary, secondary or tertiary care providers (at private, public or non-profit institutions)
- Either running or completed bachelor’s level of education (in any discipline)
- Keen interest in improving mental healthcare system and access to services for PWLEs
Desired:
- Have experience of attending and contributing to national or provincial level meetings related to mental health agenda
- Have an understanding of the mental health landscape of Nepal and Nepal’s health system
- Have experience of working in health research
- Able to confidently steer meetings and workshops
- PWLE representing gender and ethnic minority are encouraged to apply
