Youth Alliance for Development (YARD), a non-profit NGO dedicated to improving the lives of youth, women, and disadvantaged communities in Kailali, Nepal, is seeking passionate and qualified individuals to join our team.  We work in partnership with Kindernothilfe (KNH) on the Women Empowerment for Child Protection Project (WECP) in Godawari Municipality from February.  If you are driven to empower communities and protect children, we encourage you to apply!

 

Current Openings:


1. Project Officer (1 Position)

Location: Dhangadhi (with frequent travel to project areas in Godawari Municipality)

About the Role:

The Project Officer will lead the implementation and success of the WECP project, ensuring effective communication between YARD, our partners, and the communities we serve.  You will play a vital role in empowering women, strengthening community groups, and protecting children.


Responsibilities:

  • Oversee project operations and provide support to the project team.

  • Supervise and monitor the work of Community Facilitators.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with government authorities, NGOs, and partners.

  • Manage project documentation, including work plans, budgets, and reports.

  • Represent YARD at relevant forums and networks.

  • Prepare timely and accurate project reports.

  • Lead project planning meetings and stakeholder engagement.

  • Develop training materials and facilitate training programs.

  • Conduct regular field visits to support staff and monitor project progress.

  • Guide and mentor Community Facilitators.

  • Advocate for child rights and protection.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • University degree in Sociology, Rural Development, Law, Social Work or a related field.

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in project implementation and management.

  • Strong understanding of development concepts (poverty, gender, social identity, empowerment).

  • Experience with Self-Help Groups (SHGs) is highly desirable.

  • Proven community facilitation skills.

  • Proficiency in MS Office, email, and internet.

  • Excellent communication skills in Nepali and English.

  • Strong coordination and staff management skills.

  • Effective facilitation skills.

2. Community Facilitators (2 Positions - Female Only)

Youth Alliance for Development (YARD) is seeking passionate and dedicated women from Godawari Municipality (Wards 8, and 11) to join our team as Community Facilitators for the Women Empowerment for Child Protection Project (WECP).

About the Role:

As a Community Facilitator, you will be a vital link between the project and the community. You will work directly with community members, empowering them to take charge of their development through Self-Help Groups (SHGs). Your work will focus on improving the social, economic, and political conditions of local women and fostering a safe and nurturing environment for children.

Responsibilities:

  • Communicate and coordinate with ward/municipal authorities and stakeholders.

  • Form and build the capacity of SHGs

  • Identify challenges, strengths, and opportunities for local women and children.

  • Conduct activities to improve the social, economic, and political well-being of women through SHGs.

  • Assist the Program Officer with training and seminars.

  • Prepare and submit reports.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • +2 degree (or equivalent) with experience in community facilitation, preferably in grassroots projects.

  • Strong understanding of community development principles and participatory approaches.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficiency in local languages and cultural sensitivity.

  • Must be a resident of Godawari Municipality (Wards 8, and 11).

  • Ability to connect with SHG members and understand community dynamics.

  • Strong listening skills and ability to foster participation.
