Gross Salary: NRs.859,898 per annum (commensurate upon qualification and experience)

Snowland Integrated Development Center (SIDC) is a leading non-profit non-governmental autonomous, social development organization in Nepal which is established in 1992. SIDC has been established by the local educated and qualified residents with strong willingness and commitment possessing extensive experience in different sectors under the democratic pattern by holding the election every two years by the general members for the representative of the executive body. The board comprises 9 executive members with a female chairperson including a minimum of 44% of women representation. SIDC has been registered in the district administration in 1992 under the association and affiliation with the Social Welfare Council and NGO Federation of Nepal.

SIDC with the Vision of working with the poor and marginalized people in rural Humla to empower them in the process of meeting their basic needs, improving their livelihoods, and building their socio-economic status upgraded. It has always focused on gender equality and social inclusion. It has been a success to maintain agood relationship among the organizations and the people of the district to make them empowered in field like economic earnings, infrastructure, social mobilization, education, health and awareness, agriculture and husbandry, forestry, knowledge management, and skill development.

Snowland Integrated Development Center (SIDC) with Financial and Technical support from Good Neighbors International (GNI) Nepal is implementing the project titled Integrated Community Development Project (ICDP)-Livelihood & Health and WASH in Humla District. Thus, SIDC invites applications for the following position.

Cooperative Business Development Officer(CBDO)-1 (Humla Based)

Job Description 

The incumbent will be mainly focused on the following major duties and responsibilities. 

A: Planning and Implementation 

  • Assessment of the potential cooperative for the partnership with the project.
  • Carryout needs assessment of cooperatives, identify opportunities and incorporate those activities in the annual plan of action;
  • Execute the activities mentioned in the plan of action
  • Identify and develop business service packages for the cooperative.  
  • Support to prepare business plans of micro-entrepreneurs;
  • Support cooperatives to explore business opportunities and selection of potential enterprises;
  • Explore and plan for cooperative business at the community level;
  • Design and implement institutional development activities for cooperatives 

B: Training and Development

  • Train cooperative manager on cooperative account management (4 Ledger, vouchers, and other ledgers), and audit compliance. 
  • Plan and implement workshops on financial services available for the member of cooperatives.
  • Conduct entrepreneurship development training for the potential entrepreneurs;
  • Provide cooperative education, business & financial literacy training to cooperative members;
  • Support to update cooperative policies & guidelines;

C: MEAL

  • Carry-out periodical assessment of the project to assess the gap in operational practices of project interventions. 
  • Conduct field visits to observe, monitor, and evaluate the project interventions and utilization status.
  • Prepare report based on project requirement.
  • Review physical and financial progress of project interventions. 
  • Collect relevant information and prepare a case story, best practices, and lessons learned.
  • Assist in the feasibility of infrastructure activities.
  • Collect, analyze and verify the monthly financial report of the cooperative 
  • Prepare monthly Revolving Fund Status Reports;
  • Keep a record of production and sales data of the individual entrepreneur(s) and cooperative business
  • Carry out market survey for linkage of products from members.

D: Collaboration and Coordination

  • Act as a liaison between local organizations, individuals, and representatives of the government.
  • Extend coordination with concerned local government, and other like-minded organizations, civil society and seek collaboration. 
  • Participate in the programs/ meeting and discussions held at district/ community level and share the learnings/ experiences.
  • Encourage community to strengthen cooperatives and make them self-inspired, self-reliant, and self-sustained.

Qualification and required skills:

  • Bachelor level with at least three years of experience. 
  • Hands on experience in Financial Services (Saving, Credit, Remittance, Livestock Insurance) in cooperative management and development sectors.
  • Should have expertise in data analysis, report writing and training facilitation.
  • Should have team mobilization, leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate in English, Nepali, and local languages. 
  • Ability to work under strict deadlines.
  • Proficiency in MS word, excel, PowerPoint, email and internet.
